I had no idea people that young could rock so much. It's really a shame. Did anyone ever get to see her ride? It's such a shame to lose female boarders.

Sad

What a tragedy. That poor family.

That said, the ex-cop side of me can't help but wonder...

Yeah the really weird part is as the story reads... "the guy turned around to zip up a different life jacket and then she was gone" I don't know how strong the current is there, but something about that doesn't sound right.

In any case very sad. Never good to lose a boarder, and especially such a young one.

It probably had to do with carbon monoxide. It takes a while to put a life-jacket on a 3 year old, if the boat had been running for a while with her sitting back there that could be enough time.

Foul play? I'd put my money on Wakebrad's thought. Non CGA plus carbon monoxide = sink.

Horrible stuff.

Yeah it really peeves me to lose boarders in general, much worse when they're young (they almost always are) and a ton worse when it's a female. Much love to the family, it's gotta be hard as hell to deal with.

dirtysparks, not that I 100% agree that it's a ton worse, but as my soccer coach in high school put it, boys are great to have but a girl is a blessing...

I hope it wasn't due to her wearing a Non CGA. My boys will wear CGA until they no longer live in my house. There is no reason I can see to take the risk.

dirtysparks, I feel like there is a general lack of female wakeboarders. And I know from personal experience it can be tough to infect them with the bug. So to have someone that dedicated that is a female sucks more to me.

I searched and could not find any further stories about this. I wonder what the final ruling (if any) was?

Sounds to me like CO poisoning as she was behind the boat doing something with a plug, pushed off the back of the boat then disappeared.

Sad. Very sad.

This may not be the right topic to be taking lightly, but if my soccer coach said that to me, I'd be watching over my shoulder in the shower I think.

Carbon monoxide is a likely cause. It's a bad idea to leave the boat running when you're not moving. She was probably too young to know the signs; although, in some cases, it may already be too late.
