I have some liquid force suction bindings and I don't like them. They're too small and they cut off the circulation to my feet and are nearly impossible to get into and out of.

I want new bindings but I think I'd rather have regular bindings.

What bindings are you guys using and do you like them? Closed or open toe?

I need new bindings and I can't ride until I get some and I don't want to spend money on them only to find out I don't like them.

I currently ride 2009 Liquid force transits, and I like them, but I liked the 2008 close toe shanes I rode a few times last year better.

Do they let you try them at the board shops? How do you know if it'll fit right or not? How do you know if you'll even like the way they feel when you ride? Those new shane liquid force boots are $450! There's no way I'd spend that kind of money without knowing for sure it's going to be perfect.

What do you guys think about the CWB boots with the hinge? Kinda like the flow bindings for snowboards.

My personal feeling is that if you get a high end binding, you won't go wrong. Same with boards. If you dump the cash, I'm sure they're killer. I don't get to ride enough to really justify it, so then you have to find something in the middle that works good. If you can go to a shop and try them, more power to you!

As far as the hinge tech bindings, I've ridden in them, and they're nice to ride in, but they're very very stiff, at least the ones I rode in. I felt like a hard fall would hurt in them. But that was only for one set.

Alright thanks.

I haven't wakeboarded in a couple years and now I see a lot of closed toe bindings. Do you guys like the closed toe bindings?

Also, do you guys use lube to get in and out of the bindings? I've always used soap because the lube was so expensive.

kimokalihi,
I've only ridden the CWB Vapors and CWB Torqs with hinge tech, both of which are a low end binding, and didn't like either one compared to the transits.

Personally I love the Liquid force Shanes.

I honestly haven't ridden in a binding that I really liked yet. I've been riding for several years, but only one or twice a year in other people's gear. This year I decided to get some good quality bindings and a good board. I've ridden in CWB Mobe's, CWB Torqs, LF Suctions, HO Orbits, etc. I'm not a big fan of the closed toe thing, just because I like how light an open toe binding feels, but I've only ever put them on dry, never in the water. I keep some duck butter in my boad, just in case I need help getting in, but I have read that the Transits are easier to get into. You shouldn't use soaps or lotions because the oils stay in the bindings and soaps break down neoprene over time. If you don't like the price of wakeboarding lubes, just get a tube of KY. It looks funny in the boat, but it's basically the same thing and it's water soluble, which is the important part.

get 09 ronix ones! super comfy and exremely light. as for the lube u prob dont need it. 2day most bindings u can jus wet them and undo the laces as far as they can go and you shouldnt have to much trouble getting into them.

Ronix cells are a nice boot. Very supportive, yet very light.

Damn, they're expensive. I was hoping to spend a couple hundred dollars on bindings but the watsons were about $380 and the ronix cells were $420!

That's too much, I can't afford to spend that much. I need to buy some lightly used bindings I guess.

kimokalihi, what size bindings do you think you need. I have last years Shane CT limited edition in a 9-10 and they are a little too small for me.

Look for some 08 closeouts. You can usually get high end bindings that are 08 close outs for a couple hundred dollars. Id watch ebay and boardersbestbuy for some good deals.

When it comes to CT versus OT, its all about personal preference.

The CWB Hinge is a very cool idea because you can get into the boots incredibly easy and when you close the Hinge it locks your heel into place like no other binding. If you look at their higher end boots (Zeus, Answer, Faction) you will get a soft supportive boot. The Zeus is pretty cool cuz it has an extra lace loop that allows you to wrap the boot higher or lower depending on your preference.

I've ridden a few of the LFs, Hyperlite and Slingshot and non are as comfortable as my Answers.

If you have a shop to try stuff, then that is the only way to find what works for you. Buying blind sucks but if you get a higher end boot, you really can't go wrong.

I wear a size 10 shoe. I'm really worried about getting the wrong size online because I have the liquid force suction bindings and they're too small and I can't ride because they hurt my feet so bad and I can hardly get them off.

kimokalihi, I wear a normal shoe size 10.5. My LF Shane's are size 9-10 and I can fit into them, it just takes a little bit of work and when they are on, they are really tight on me.

I could be wrong, but the suction bindings were before LF began keying in on individual sizes and were more general (as in S, M, L, versus 7-8, 8-9, 9-10, etc.)

If you are interested I would let them go for 180$ shipped. They have only been used a few times and are in great shape.

i ride watson CTs after having ridden parks boots for a few years and these things are amazing. Literally the most comfy - most supportive and easy to get in and out of ever. Period.

heres an OT 08 Watson for 250. i think a size 10-11 would be fine.

http://www.evogear.com/outlet/wakeboard-bindings/liquid-force-watson-ot-open-toe-boots-2008.aspx

and you shouldn't need any type of lube to get into them, my 06's are so easy to get into its a joke.

heres some 08 cells for 200

I saw those when I was searching around for them the other day. I want to buy some boots so bad but what if they don't fit or I don't like them? I think the closed toe would probably be better. I never did like the feeling of your toes sticking out.

imo opinion the ronix closed toe of 08 doesn't fit me as well as my 06 watson for a few reason..

"heel kidney's" vs "j-bars"

i have pretty narrow/long feet and thin ankles. I'm about a size 11, 5'9" and nearly 150 pounds. but my foot is probably as fat as someone around a size 7 or 8.

now, the liquid force bindings have very extreme ankle support and hold because the "heel kidneys" or whatever they're called are built right on top of the liner.

on the other hand, ronix's "j-bars" go between the liner and outside shell, and being not as pronounced as LF's in the first place, don't do quite as good of a job locking my heel down.

also, becuase of the way my foot is shaped, there is just a tiny bit of room around the top of my foot because i can't tighten down my ronix bindings as tight as my watsons.

and then against LF is the peeling issues they had with their 08 bindings, but i hear that ronix really didn't perfect their bindings til 09..

so if i were you i'd wait til september and snag some 09 ronix bindings on sale, but if you can't wait, i'd go for the OT Watsons. they're 2 years of improvements on them relative to my 06's and if they're anything like them (should be much better) you will not be disappointed

Thanks for all the info, you guys have been quite helpful. I cannot wait til september because that means I don't get to ride at all this summer. The way those suction bindings cut off my circulation is crazy. I rode the other day for 5 mins and when I got out of the water I could not get those bindings off. Took me and 2 other people. When I pulled my feet out the bottoms were completely white. Looked like my feet were dead. There was a line where it was red and then white like you were looking at the map of a country and you could see the different states.

I want to buy a slightly used set of 09s haha or 08s to save some money. I'll keep looking in the for sale section but I don't know how much longer I can wait...

I didn't see those but I think I need the 10-11 not the 9-10. My snowboard boots are 11.

Is that the color of your boots?
