very different because you can't really emulate a backroll on a trampoline as it's pretty reliant on the pull of the boat. You can't really rotate around a rope on a trampoline, which is what a backroll is doing.

ya, a backroll on a trampoline is way different than one on the water. Just make sure the handles in tight, you use all the wake, and you spot your landing.

can we just sticky this at the top of the forum? lol

Too much hypothesizing about stuff and not enough attempting it seems these days.

I made my first hs backroll attempt on Saturday and didn't get it on video. Confused Supposedly I was really close though. I sprained my ankle pretty bad on the landing but I agree you should just try it. Hopefully you won't get injured like me though.

While we're on the subject of heelside backrolls. I landed my first one at the very end of last year and I started trying them right from the start this summer. With about 10 attempts I finally landed another one but it was really sketchy.

My friends in the boat are telling me I'm not getting enough height when I'm doing the trick, and that I'm more skimming the water and rotating extremely fast. So am I leaving to early? Do I need to emphasize standing tall when I do the trick? Any ideas? Sorry I don't have any video of it yet, but I'll see if I can get some soon.

Could very well be.

When I do my backroll, I make an effort to cut AWAY from the boat. This builds the rope tension to its maximum. Then when I hit the wake I huck it, the added line tension pulls me through the trick and to a smooth landing. It's hard to spot the landing as you are spinning pretty quick, just stay centered and hold on, if you throw it right, you will be just fine.

logan's pretty much right.

Also, just make sure you edge all the way through the wake. It's likely that you're either leaving your edge too early or bending your knees when you hit the wake. Just know that if you're doing it right, the boat/wake will be diong most of the work for you.

Another thing with this trick is just to hang on. To me at least it felt like a strange rotation at first but just make sure to keep your hands on the handle.
