Ok, I'm also trying to get these nailed soon. I want to learn to land it wrapped, but it hasn't come along yet. I'm sure there's a lot wrong with it, but hey, gotta start somewhere... Here's a video, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Nothing beats crash vids, keep em coming!!
You can use your head for the rotation, thats the easy part, the only difficult part is landing blind and riding away clean. Your head is looking straight down at the 2nd wake in that clip, notice how your body followed it. You should pop up and let your head drift aruond and start to look for the horizon, your body has no choice but to follow it. Pros do blind 180's with ease, land wrapped, and tick-tock out of it- ignore their technique! Definitely do a handle pass at the top or on the way down, don't try to land wrapped or you will wreck your skull.
Wait on the pop, bring the handle towards the small of your back with your lead hand, close your wrist to set the handle up for the pass, start to look behind you until you spot the horizon, do a clean handle pass to your rear hand, absorb the landing with weight on your toes and edge out of it. |

| Since the landing is the hardest thing to grasp, I would recommend learning them inside/out first, carry an edge and give it a little lift off the wake and spin a quick blind 180 on the way down. Then take them w2w. |

You can't land the trick cuz your rope is all frayed, what up with that, looks likes it's been run over a few times.
No seriously try the one wake technique Jim is talking about it is the best way to get the feel of landing all wrapped up and looking behind you. These are the best looking tricks in my book, big floaty BS180 landing all stinky (blind). _________________ PEACE

Keep straight over your board, when i do my bs 180's i take a really slow cut i would only get abt 2ft off the wake and i land blind handle pass or what ever, and you might be hesitating a bit. _________________

Nice Video. Anyway, all of the above is good advice. I've never landed a bs 180, so I don't have much to say about that.
However, I can comment that you are coming totally off your edge at the wake. Work on that first. _________________ Check out https://www.facebook.com/darcizzleoffshore |

well, Y'all are certainly right about freakin out on the way down. I get freaked out when I try these. I guess I should probably learn it with a handlepass first, but I'd like to get 'em dialed with a stinky to tick tock out _________________ The consciousness of self is the greatest hindrance to the proper execution of all physical action.

Good advice in here. The best way to learn moves like that is to do it in the flats first (ollie bs 180) then inside out, then one wake, then wake to wake.
Can you do a nice clean wake to wake jump? You'll want to get that working for you first. Then jump like a normal jump and spin nice and slow. If you do a good wake two wake jump, you have all the time in the world to do the 180, so no need to panic. |

looks to me like the problem is in your cut... You don't need to cut that hard or that agressively for a blind 180, take a nice easy cut, and wait until the top of your jump to start spinning, then just try and keep your head up..
good luck |

| From the opinion of someone who hasn't even thought of doing this yet, I'd say you looked a little apprehensive in mid-air. your body was trying to turn the way you wanted but your head still wanted to look at the water. Wait, should have read the opther posts. Jim M says it so much better than I do. |

ok, I went back out yesterday and came much closer. I didn't get it on camera though, actually, looking back on it, the above video is a very bad example... _________________ The consciousness of self is the greatest hindrance to the proper execution of all physical action.

Yeah, the fear is overcoming you man. Im not saying that trick is easy or anything, or that it is easy to forget about the fear. But that seems to be the problem here. You have the right idea, from what my amatuer opinion sees. So just work some more and Be Happy. _________________ Pulling fat people out of the water is fun...I get to use my engine. |

Let me see here... as mentioned above by many people, you should definitely learn them out in the flats first, then inside out, etc. You aren't going to land wrapped wake to wake if you can't land wrapped ollieing out in the flats (actually, that's not necessarily true, seeing as I accidentally landed my first bs180 wrapped way back when... but that was a fluke). Anyway, once you feel really solid doing them inside out, taking it wake to wake is pretty simple. The best way to learn is to hit the wake exactly like a normal wake jump. You DO NOT want to initiate this spin off the wake. When you're at the peak of your jump, then you can smoothly pull the handle into your leading hip and start your rotation, and since you already know how to land from all your practice in the flats and inside out, you'll stick it! BTW, the most common problem I've seen is that people tend to overrotate slightly. So if you find yourself wanting to "sit down" on the landing or you feel a jerk on the handle right after you land, slow down the rotation a bit. Good luck!
Here'a vid of me that has a few bs180's: http://www.wakepics.com/view_single.php?medid=7026 |
