gonna be trying a recoil for the first time this weekend.

many of you have mentioned you have to slightly change your riding because of the flex. i assume in cut and pop.

what kind of things should i have in the back of my mind to try to change? anything you can put into words?
i havent decided if ill be on the 08 or 09, i know the 09 is alot more conventional with really only flex in the tips.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

ride norris lake, i already bought the slingshot. in fact i bought a 08 AND and 09 recoil 142. probly start with the 09 as its more conventional, less flex. but work to the 08 as its another 1/2 pound lighter.

any suggestions on what to change?

Use the flex to your advantage in order to get that pop you want.

I found that taking an even more progressive edge into the wake was very helpful. If you can build up a good amount of line tension without smashing into the wake as hard as you can the board will float you straight up. (I have the Response, but I assume the floaty pop comes from the flex). I didn't take any real time to really get used to the board, maybe a set or two to be more comfortable, and a little while longer to really understand the board.

Truth. But at first don't actively think about how to load it, or something to do. Just ride as you would in a progressive cut, and you'll feel it happen. Then you'll have a better understanding than me trying to explain how to load the board from the perspective of my style of riding. Good luck man, you're gonna love em!

concentrate on progressive edge, makes sense that it would "preload" the board. ill keep that in mind. thanks!
i do have a rather vertical/rampy/abrupt wake, especially when i get more than 2 saks in boat so ill have to be careful not to smash into it.

ive wanted to try this SS phenomenon since before last season. so im stoked to finally try it.

i figured puting the changes needed into words would be tough.

STANG KILLA SS, steep wake is great, it really makes a great use of the flex. Once you are used to the board you will be able to charge all you want. But IMO it's the best way to learn to ride the board first and it's good technique too!

well i got to ride it yesterday, i decided to ride the 08 as its almost a half pound lighter than the 09. also decided to use the larger 08 fins for first run, not knowing how slipery the featureless bottom would be, no signs of striping the fins like ive heard, screws were super tight going in.

being a skier all my life, ive got the worst form. knowing that i was expecting the worst, ie the flex to absorb the wake and me to get like 6" of air.

hoping on the first time i was pleasantly suprised. a few single HS wakes to get used to the buck. and then started riding normal. there wasnt much difference, i was glad too see that. i was getting the same distance and height as before. board i noticed was very user friendly. no bad habits. there was probly 1 or 2 times i must have got things just right, loading the board and line, cause it booted me pretty good. more than im used to so thats a good sign. i only got 3 sessions in horrible water so im stoked to keep with it. love it, retiring the shane for sure.
i wasnt paying attention to it, to feel the softer landings, but im sure they were. a few times i taped the tail on the second wake and landed one huge 6' into the flats(according to my friends in the boat, liars Laughing ) it did seem a bit softer.

i think im hooked Mr. Green cant wait till next weekend. gonna be riding with Billy Garcia! (lesson)
