Hey guys,
I have wakeboarded like 5 times maybe, I dont have a problem getting up, and I can jump the wake but I've never owned my own board so I could def. use some help. In like 3 weeks I will be transfering to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba cuz im in the military so I'd like to buy my own board and bindings so I'm wondering what would be good to start with and what size of board and bindings i need. I wear a 10.5 shoe if that matters? I dont know if any of you guys have ever wakeboarded in florida, or cuba or anywhere in the atlantic but is there a certain type of board for the ocean? I know there isn't really any waves so I dont know if it makes a difference. I looked at some hyperlite boards that i liked, im looking to spend around 550 if thats possible. Thanks for the help!!!

What kind of boat are you going to ride behind there?

Honestly I dont even know yet, I will be there in 3 weeks, but I dont know what anyone is using down there. The boats probably wont be anything fancy, or even wakeboard boats. Probably just a normal speedboat.

Do you have any suggestions as far as boards and bindings? I think I need a 134-134 because I weigh about 175, thats what the size chart said anyways? Thanks.

At 175 you should be on a 138, try a different chart Wink The best thing to do is go to hyperlites web site and look at boards that are for intermediate level. Then search for reviews on the board that you like. Finally look for an online dealer, I hear boardstop is pretty reputable Cool or look through the classifieds for a deal, then ebay.

Welcome to the board and a big THANK YOU for serving our country Cool

134 will be to small, I weigh the same and ride a 138. Its perfect. Have fun out there in Gitmo, I have been there a few times for deployments. Not much going on.

Definitely, thanks for serving our country. Dont worry, there are a lot of people that are thankful for what you do. Remember : one loud A$$hole = one thousand quiet supporters

Nah, They didnt give us time to do much. I have the luck of going there during drug running season or saving migrants from home-made boats. It is a round the clock job with that.
