Yes there is a difference, ski ropes stretch to give an extra pop when deep starting skis. Wakeboard rope don't stretch, because of the way you come out of the water on a WB you need a solid pop, not a rubberband slingshot like a ski. On the other hand, a WB rope will make deep starting a ski very difficult, at least that has been my experiance and I've been skiing most of my life. _________________

jayh1986, you don't need the wakeboard rope to begin riding. It only becomes important once you start trying to jump w2w and stuff like that. If you're a few months away from that, no rush for the wb rope. Depends on your progression and how fast you plan on trying that stuff as to how quickly you'll need a wb rope. _________________

Ya, it is usually a lot longer/wider so that you can pass it easier between hands when doing tricks. _________________

| I would start off right and go ahead and get a wakeboard rope. The spectra lines and handles are little pricey, but worth it. Spring in the rope just doesn't help at all when wakeboarding. |

| Make sure it is a no stretch rope. There is some cheaper wakeboard ropes that are a low stretch. The no stretch is the way to go. |
