alright, I have my backrolls super-consistent now, I just want to take them bigger. What is the best way that I should go about doing this? Landing out in the flats hurts like hell, I'm looking for some way to take it more up than out. Any suggestions? here's my current backroll:

Looks like you're going early. If you go frame by frame, you see how you're already well into the roll as your board leaves the wake? Well your body should still be pretty vertical when you leave the wake.

Right now the board is taking most of the wake's upward energy, which will spin you fast, but take away from your height. The idea is to get the energy from the wake to go into your hips, which will send you much higher. That is done by standing nice and tall at the wake. You won't rotate as fast, which is good, otherwise you'd over-rotate.

If you get it so you can wait and take it high, you can even use a shorter cut into the wake if you are afraid of landing in the flats. Or cut real hard and take it way out in the flats...the adrenaline should cancel out the pain on that. Wink

try it off the double up. i get huge off the double up - but the trick is > try to rotate slow and try to pull your knees towards your body. don't know if that helps but once you can go big off the double up its easy to take the same move bigger wake to wake

I am trying to remedy the same problem. Looking at your video, I agree mostly with the above. It seems that you are coming off your edge some just before the wake and hucking it around some. Try and ride up the wake longer and instead of throwing the board up and behind so much, try and ride up the wake and snap the board vertical more, instead of back. If landing in the flats, lenghten line. You will also need to increase speed slightly. When landing in flats, land with knees bent, and looking towards shore, not down at water. this will cause you to ride away, instead of slam down, believe it or not. This should be done with every trick, but very few people actually do it. Different board may help with landings too, but looking at shore will help more.

Nathan- my suggestion would be, slow every thing down a little more. What I mean is slower cut, slowly build speed, slowly lock into the wake and just relax a little and let the wake initiate the trick... I find that once I slow my run down all my tricks get super big. The pro's make it look effort less, you too can make it look the same way it's just we have to consciously think about slowing everything down. let the wake do the work some more.

looks good, did you get TS backroll down yet?

thanks good advice guys, I really do appreciate it.
J_DOGG, I'm a Taco Bell Chalupa and haven't been pushing myself as hard on that since I sprained my ankle doing them. Right now I'm riding on a weak ankle, but I'll try it more next time a go back out. Last time I tried it, I rotated all the way around and slipped out on the landing, but it hurt my ankle again and I quit doing them that day... Neutral
Thanks y'all, I got a lot to work on this summer Mr. Green
