Your pop is enough in that video to land it. You could get higher though with that same edge if you lean back over your heels as you're going up the wake. Think if there was a vertical line straight up from the wake, you would want your shoulders to be the last thing to cross that line.

The main problem with your rotation is that you're letting go with your back hand right off the wake. All the power in a toeside edge comes from your back arm. As soon as you let go with that hand, your line tension goes away and you're on your own for the flip. Hold on with both hands at least through the first half of the flip.

Try to over rotate a bit, since you want to be landing in a toeside edging position, which means you'll need your weight to be more over your toes as opposed to standing straight up.

Good luck!

Didnt look too bad to me. Your could try a tad bit more speed or a slightly later pop if youre looking for a little more amplitude, but it looked like youve got most of the work done already. Like toothpick said, hold on with both hands till youre completely inverted. Then dont just let your front arm out, keep it in and low. If you hold on with the back hand too long, or you dont keep the hanle in and down, itll start to pull you into a crow. Mostly you need to throw it a little harder and stay tucked until youre well on top of the board again. Good luck.

yea i totally see what you guys were sayin about my back hand. I watched the video and my back hand comes off right away... and the later pop makes sense to me to... that should send me higher right?

That looks identical to the few attempts i've tried. All i've been told is wait, wait, wait and the pop will be there.

Try waiting a split second before throwing it. You are not waiting on the pop!

I didn't see the video, but "www.learnwake.com" has a really good free instructional video on it. It basically breaks it down like this:

#1
Use a trip flip edge. Basically make sure your backing off on your edge right as you approach the wake.

#2
Focus on going straight UP off the wake.

#3
Keep the handle in close so you don't lose any rotation

#4
Keep tucked! Don't straighten your body out half-way through the flip.

#5
Consider letting going with your back hand half-way through the rotation(optional).

Hope this helps.

I had the same problem with the frontroll for a while. It helped me to jump a bit away from the boat and use the trip flip. The key is indeed to wait as long as possible.
