|
|
| I recently hooked up my tower speaker and sub but when i put it in the water the other day i have the whining engine noise through the tower speakers. I know what it is but i need to know how to fix it. I have tried the RCA filter and it works......but....when the filter is on my sub barley moves and you cannot tell its working. Anyone had this happen or know how to fix it??? Thanks in advance. |

try re-grounding your amp and checking all wires for exposure to metal. _________________

| All wires checked and no exposure to metal. The amp is grounded directly to the battery. I have both amps linked as well. |

that could be your problem, the amp gets feedback from the alternator since it's grounded at the battery, try grounding it to the motor itself... _________________

My boat had this issue straight from the factory. A filter from "Radio Shack" in line with the RCA's fixed the problem. _________________ 2010 Watson Hybrid

Have you checked the RCA connections to make sure they are secure and/or tried swapping out the RCA cables themselves? Seems odd to me that the filter would cause your sub to stop working if you were getting a proper signal.
We are assuming that everything else is operating properly and that the amp is tuned correctly. Any chance that it is not tuned right? Is it a brand new amp? Possibly a bad amp? _________________

| pet575, Both amps are brand new. The amps are tuned correctly through a local dealer that i have used for years. Yeah i agree that is very odd that the filter would make the sub stop working. I am at a complete loss of things to try so im taking the boat in today to have my guy try every trick in his book. Thanks to all who have replied and when i find out whats up ill let you all know. Maybe someone else will be able to use this info someday.... |

My money is on bad RCA cable(s) or bad amp(s). Even if new, sometimes they can be faulty. Keep us posted. Will be interested to hear what it is. _________________
