This was being talked about on that other board and I just wanted to post it up over here. I realize it's not a V-drive and lacks any bling and creature comforts. I think it's pretty decent really. The tower is hideous but with a nice one I think this boat could look pretty slick. The rumor is about $27K with a tandem axle trailer.

Nice looking boat. Looks like it would be a good one for skiing and wakeboarding with the D-drive. I like the market they are trying to hit.
I wouldn't consider buying anything but a v-drive though.

What advantages does a V-drive have over a D-drive? I know all about inboards vs I/O but whats the real difference between V and DD?

brotherbrown831, weight placement. DD's are set up with more weight forward to flatten out the wakes for slalom setups, and when motorboats were first being built the transmission was much simpler. V-drive's have more weight in the rear and that peaks up the wakes a little.
It seems like they made that whole tower ass-backwards. not only does it sweep the wrong way, the tow point hangs down from the crossbeam. That'll put a mean knot on your head if you're standing when the driver guns it

Also seating and weight configuration. With a v-drive you can put sacks in the rear compartments and not have them laying all around the boat. On a d-drive there usually isn't much space in the rear for weight so sacks tend to sit in the walkways and seats.

That's a terrible spot for the tow point, I'd nail my head every time on that.

There should be no boat ever made for wakeboarding that is a direct drive, they suck and are obnoxious to weight and hang out in.
PS: they should have made the boat a foot or two longer.

This does not make sense. To get a good wake, one needs to have weight distributed throughout the boat, not just in the rear. Bow weight drvies the keel inot the water getting a deeper more rampy wake. Rear weight often gives more wash and spray.
That said, a DD gives more balanced weight in mid boat than a VD.

abrider, you have to add weight to the front of the boat to balance, but you want more weight in the back than the front. In a V-drive the spacing is perfect. Compartments in the back, under the bow in the front.
The issue is where to put it that's not going to be on the floor in a DD.

Don't like it at all, is that a tower or a headache rack? A 19' boat with a closed bow, would be very tight for any more then 4 people. For 27k I would rather have a 6-8 y/o x-star, wakesetter, supra ect with the v-drive and plenty of room.

hey, dont make cracks at my free tower it will be getting powder coated in a couple of weeks. it used to be a porch swing, then i got ahold of it. it should work out good after i add some glass to the mounting points.

RIDE.NORRIS.LAKE, with your writing style, that doesn't say much for the UNC literature program; no capitalization, bad grammar, punctuation, text speech.

Wakebrad, That's because they are going to be re-writing all the classic literature in text speak so the next generation can read them. Example:
"2b or nt 2b, dats da quesn yo"
