My boat was a 2002 close out. My dealer was selling them at cost to make room for the 2003s.
Phone number for custom boat and marine is (775) 852-4535 ask for Steve Miller < thats not me. |

I have been to the factory and I was impressed with the pride they took in their work. The people there really attempt(with much success) to make quality equipment.

Yes they are nice, but... Graphics? Color options? Where's the cooler? I've only toured the website but I'm not that impressed with them...My Avalanche has more storage than you need, a cooler within reach of the driver, proflight swoop tower and unique gelcoat graphics. Kicka$$ wake too...I smite you and your sweet Hurricane. May your serpentine belt shred like mine.... |
Again Iwil start off by saying that I love my boat. Couldn't be more pleased. Rides rock solid and has a great wake. Would recommend it to anyone in the market for a boat in the 30-35k range.
RanMan, How can you compare your boat to a boat you,ve never even been in????? You've only seen it on the web, well that is a main factor. You should take one out for a spin and, go through one before you start making comparisons about web pictures.
Please,
I know you love your boat, but the comments you are making are assanine. Where's the cooler? Malibu's is twice the size as the one in the Centurion floor. That thing only holds like 6 big powerades and a halfbag of ice. As to gelcoat, Centurions unique? So are Bu's Malibu's have the sweetest, cleanest graphics in the business. As to towers, The titan tower has way less sway side to side in the chop than the proflight. Colors, the color options on a Bu are twice that of any Centurion. Handling, The Avalanche drives like a BUS compared to the BU. Storage, All v-drives are pretty much the same. The trim and things inside a Bu are a little better as well. The way things are bolted together fastned, and materials used things of that nature.
It's like comparing a Toyota to a Lexus. BOTH are great cars but the Lexus has a lot of other options that Toyota doesn't. Luxury if you will. Rides a little better, feels better in the seats, trim looks better. All these things are minor IMO for a boat. For myself, I don't ride evryday and couldn't justify shelling out the extra cash. It wasn't worth it IMO.
I have no proble admitting that if I could grab up a VLX for the same price I would drop my Centurion in a secondI think almost anyone would. I'm not a pro and don't ride everyday of the week, so for myself I couldn't see the need to shell out the cash on a boat like that. It's cool that you like your boat so much, I'm happy for ya, BUT SERIOUSLY GET OFF IT ALREADY!!! Slammin other people because they don't want to buy an Avalanche like you is rediculous.

What up, Still planning on it for sure. It's just taking a little longer than they thought to get things rollin in the Department over there. I guess the Civil service comission just hired a ton of fireman and they are backed up. So the tranfer is going to take like a month longer than expected. I'm looking to be there around late July early August to look at some houses.
Is the Centurion Dealer in Reno that you speak of? Where abouts? They have taken care of you customer service wise it sounds like so that is good to know. Hope the weather is still good to yous over there. Found another town called Fernly or Frenly I think. How be that?
Have fun at the Delta. How far is that from Reno?

Fernley is small town east of Reno(about 30 miles)
The Centurion Dealer is Great here. Custom Boat is right on S. Virginia street about five miles south of downtown. Weather has been in the 90s last few weeks.

OK r361 , you are officially banned from any future Centurion supporters club events. A pox on you and your devil-keyboard.
C'mon dude. I never been in a Malibu- You've never been in a Avalanche, obviously. I don't care if its called titan or he-man super-duty, those towers look dorky, IMHO. The forward swoop eliminates the one easy way to get into the boat from the dock. The other one, just four posts that meet in the center, is no fun for diving off, sitting on or mounting stuff to. And as for the cooler, I can easily fit a case of your favorite beverage, plus enough ice to keep it cold all day and night. And if I'm thirsty, grab one while driving without having to move bodies or equipment. Sweet and clean graphics? That's your HO. IMHO, they're boring and me-too-ish. As for storage, all v-drives are not the same. What's the beam on that 'bu? 93" Dude, they can't hold near what I can store in my Avalanche with it's 100" beam. Also the Avalanche is 22'. The VLX is 21'. Dude, I like my toys big, and the AVAlanche, IMHO, is perfect. Style, storage, amenities, performance. I've been in a lot of boats, mostly Nautiques, and I prefer mine. I'm allowed to.

BTW, the 'bu website distinctly shows dual speedo pickups on the transom. Pu-leese, paddle wheels are where it's at. Maybe 'bu will see what Centurion is doing and copy that idea too...

RanMan,
There is obviously no stomping on your ride It's the best and that is that. YEEEEAAAAAHHHHH!
Paddle wheels. Who the hell cares. PP uses a paddle wheel and that the only speedo I'm concerned with. Coolers are no comparison Double the size of the Centurions easy.
Reverse swoop is definately ugly and does exactly what u said IMO. But Titan is simple and clean No drivers obstruction at all. Jumping off of, well we don't do that stuff. So I don't care.
Whatever man. I've been in an Avalanche 5 times. I know. Oh yeah how many times have you been in a BU again 00000 that's right.

Hmmm, potential storage area...used by oversized cooler....Under often used cushions....Yeah, sounds like advanced technology to me...

Hey, I like the stickers on the side of the malibu VLX. I think they look cool. And, I admit when I'm wrong. I saw the specs on the website...evidently they do run paddlewheels now. My bad. And you are right, oversized is an objective term. Listen, they are good boats no doubt. I like mine tho. It's the small things...reaching for a cool bev while cruising down the river. That delightful whap-whap sound when the serpentine belt breaks again(Mercruiser is fixing this finally) Diving off the top of the tower on a lazy afternoon. The slotted teak swim platform-easy to latch on to as the rookie driver drifts quickly by on the pickup. And yes, I like the controversial walk though to the teak. You know when you walk into a dealer and the thing just speaks to you? Well, that's what happened to me. And in my neck of the woods, it has made a splash. So I rest contented. Peace

From what I have heard, Centurions sound like good boats. But I like to stick with my Malibu. About the 4Runner I love how mine tows the boat. Plenty of power on the steeps and slicks and I don't have 4wheel drive, so... All I can is this, if you ever decide to get an Acura MDX be careful. Their boat towing capibilities are not the best.

RanMan,
It was fun. Like I said before I love my Centurion as do you, and that's all that matters, As long as your ride is good for you who cares what anyone else thinks. I too love the fact that I don't have to get up to grab a drink from the cooler. That's sweet, but man it's just not big enough. I always need to bring an extra one. That's really my only complaint. Hope you get the belt thing worked out.

r3612,
Thanks for the belt sentiment. Merc' tech service is working with my local Premeir shop and it's being fixed correctly, finally. As for the cooler issue, did you know they change size with each boat model in the storm series? The more length and beam, the bigger the cooler. In order of cooler size and usability:
Model Length Beam Cooler capacity (12oz cans x 12oz cans)
Typhoon 23' 102" 3 x 8x 2 = 48 cans plus ice
Avalanche 22' 100" 3 x 7 x 2 = 42 cans plus ice
Tornado 21'6" 100" 3 x 5 x 2 = 30 cans plus ice
Hurricane 21'6" 94' 2 x 4 x 2 = 12 cans plus ice
Cyclone 20'6" 91" 1 x 3 x 2 = 6 cans plus ice
This scientific measuring method asssumes neat stacking of cans before the addition of ice.
As you can see however, capacity varies greatly with boat model. While the models are configured the same, the storage and cooler areas vary.
Peace

RanMan,
Didn't realize the coolers had that much size difference. WOW!!!! The opening on the Avalanche I was in seemed about the same. Guess like the old saying goes "looks can be deceiving"
Now you know what I mean about the cooler though. Barely holds anything. Waste of space in my opinion Should have made anothe cooler under the back right seat behind the driver. That little storage area they got there could be twice the size if they used it right. I'm puting one in myself as we spaeak, under that seat that is.

Yeah, I first checked out the Cyclone. Now there's a joke! Can barely get your hand in there to grab a cold one!
Good luck with the mod!

So, which boat can fit the MOST naked blondes. We need some volunteers for a scientific study...it might take hours....it might take weeks, but we will find out!!!
