Here is my dilema. With the board racks mounted to the side of the tower it is too wide to fit in my garage. I don't want to have to loosen and rotate the racks to the inside each time I garage my boat. I've seen a few people have mounted their board racks on top of the tower. Is there a down side to this other than they would be a little harder to get to? If I mount them on top the boat will fit in the garage with simply folding down the tower which I have to do anyway to get the boat in the garage. Thanks in advance.

Every time you put a board in the rack you'll get dripped on by cold lake water - Which would put me off the idea, not to mention the goofy looking factor...

Best plan IMO, would be to find some bolt with hand knobs on 'em. so you don't need tools to loosen the racks - you should be able to just slacken the nut by hand and then swivel the rack in.

Examples of fasterners:

Good point about dripping water. I'll have to check into your idea about bolts with handles. Or I suppose I could leave a T-handle allen wrench in the boat's glove box. Thanks for the response.
