Wow this is tragic to say the least. I remember back in the day when I first saw a picture of him hucking a back flip off a huge cornice, that was almost unheard of until then and I couldn't believe my eyes. There is no doubt going to be a huge section in next year's Warren Miller movie dedicated to Shane, that is going to be sad to watch..... RIP Shane. _________________ "I know violence isn't the answer, I got it wrong on purpose." |

Serious RIP here. Shane was an unbelievable talent, hometown right here at Squaw. He is and always will be a legend there. I am glad to have been able to watch him freeski up close back in my younger days. You think what you see in pictures is nuts - try standing below near his landing area or above from where he hucked - absolutely crazy stuff. Dude had balls the size of grapefruits.
Sad, sad day in the skiing community.
When my current Machetes are ready to retire, I will mount em up in honor of Shane. RIP bro. _________________

It seems like every year a tribute is being done to a ski/board legend. I can't believe how many people have died in the last few years. (Craig Kelly, Doug Coombs, Shane McConkey to name a few off hand)
I guess that is the consequence of going bigger and bigger for the videos |

ah man.... Another death I found out about today!!!
I was in Vegas when he first jumped off Mandalay Bay.
R.I.P. Shane
The other death I heard about was Roach (from bands such as Lungbrush) a Chicago local music icon.
Don't forget to add to your death list JLA (Jeff Anderson) |

RIP "saucer boy" Shane was one of the baddest skiers and coolest guys around. He will truly be missed _________________ I once saw a fork lift pick up a pallet of forks, it was way too literal for me. |
