I'm thinking about buying a new boat this year. The three boats I'm interested in are 2001-2002 Super Air Natique, 2001 Malibu Wakesetter VLX, or a 2000-2002 X Star. The boat would mainly be used for wakeboarding, a little wakeskating and I really want to get into some wakesurfing.

One question in particular I have is if any of the factory towers on these boats fold down so I can fit it in my garage?

You owners are the experts so I was just curious if you could give me some pros and cons of each boat that you know of and just what your personal preference would be. Thanks I really appreciate it!

I feel the air nautique and x star will be a better choice, but they are all great.

I do not know about natiques. The xstar has a great wake for boarding, drives like a tank and in my opinion has an inferior surf wake to the vlx. Make sure vlx has full ballasts and wedge, the vlx makes a great boarding wake and drives great and a good surf wake if properly weighted and wedge down.

In a recent thread here someone posted an 01 xstar and it looked pristine, located in Bakersfield def worth looking at.

In the final analysis I think any of the three u mentioned would be great, I would shop condition, options and price and pick the best I could find, preferencing the vlx or xstar of course, for me at least.

mx559,

What side will you be surfing on? I ask this because i would +1 on the xstar as well for wakeboarding. However if you ride goofy and really want a good surf wake I would look hard at the other two choices. The xstar throws a great surf wake for a regular rider. It's not good if you ride goofy.
