they both have really nice wakes. Im really satisfied w/ my vlx. My friend has a 210 and thats sweet too. I love both boats. The nautiques are more expensive and the boats are comparable. Both boats kick ass!!!!!

Two of my buddies have these boats. The wake on the Malibu is much different than the wake on the Super Air.

The Super Air is very steep and big with extra weight. It seems that once you get about 2000 pounds, it's so big you don't even need any more. The wake allows a rider to come in slowly and progressive and get big pop. There is no need to charge the wake. It's a great wake.

The Malibu VLX also has a great wake, but is much different. It's very ramping and very clean. The stock ballast is really not going to do it for this boat, in my opinion. With 2000-3000 pounds this wake is great and still stays clean. You can add as much weight as you want and it won't wash out. This is more of the wake that you can really charge at.

Both wakes are good, it just depends if you like rampy or steep wakes. Personally, I really like the looks of the Super Air, but it's really small. If I had to choose between the two I would be hard pressed to choose one. If I wasn't worried about space or storage I'd go with the Super Air. Otherwise, I'd go with the Malibu. As it turns out, I bought a Tige' 22V because it has much more room, space and storgage than these boughts and a wake that is in between the two as far as rampy and steep.

Bottom line:
More Space and Storage, Rampy Wake = VLX
Best Built Boat and Steep Wake = Super Air

I like the SAN. Excellent construction and sweet wake that doesn't require as much weight plus I think they look better.

Yeah the SAN has better graphics and the flight control towers are pretty cool. The VLX still looks pretty cool and it has more storage room than the SAN. But since you dont need as much added weight to the SAN it could kinda even out. If you like the Malibu wedge thing you can get it with the VLX. You can raise and lower it on command and it creates drag in the back of the boat which forces the boat lower in the water kinda like weight and helps the wake. This creates more "weight" without taking up any room in the boat and it easy to fool with but some people dont like it. The SAN will be a little more expensive than the VLX. Really you will be happy with either one. You should probably try to demo them both if you can and see which one you like more. Also the dealer you get it at should influence your choice. If the dealer you buy one from is bad they could take weeks to deal with your boat it you have some problems or could be hard to talk to. So you have heard what the main differences are in this forum and in the general discussion one so you just need to demo them or at least try to look at both of them in person and find out if the dealer you will buy from is good or not.
