Me and 2 friends decided last night to go to Vegas. We booked our flights but haven't booked a hotel yet. We are leaving in a couple hours...

What method does everyone use to book Vegas hotels? I want central strip location. Cheap as possible.

show up with 15k to gamble, get a players card and let the pit boss know you are looking for a comp.

If you win a gambling they are paying you to stay there.

It is a pretty big IF though.

Canucked,

you just booked flights? I would think it would have been cheaper to book a package. All the packages I've seen recently the hotel is basically paying for your flight down there. I saw 3 nights at Ceasars palace, and flight for 525, taxes all in.

Once your down there I would think your not going to get that same deal. To get cheap rooms you might have to head off the strip now.

Originally we were going to crash in someones room who is already there but an extra guy is coming so we need our own room.

I found tropicana (which isn't great) for $70 a night. that will do I guess.

Nooga678, my wife already laid ground rules. first one was no bunny ranch Sad

Im pumped, we were sitting around deciding what to do this weekend and decided to go to vegas, that is the best way to plan a trip IMO

I just need to sneak out of the office early

Imperial Palace is pretty ghetto and centrally located on the strip.

You need to get player cards ASAP, then you will start getting comp'd if you play enough. I almost always book directly through the hotels main website, either using my players card or using one of the specials they have on their website. The best value hotels to stay at are Bally's, and Imp Palace. Bally's is obviously much nicer if you get in the north tower. Treasure Island and Excalibur have good deals as well if you don't mind walking or taking taxis. I am sure there are some sweet deals on hotels right now considering the economy.

I usually stay at imperial palace due to its good location but we have friends that will be at NY, NY so we decided to stay further south.

$250 for 2 nights at the tropicana. Not a great deal but...meh.

The pool opens this weekend but Rehab doesn't officially start until April. It is supposed to be 72*. I am planning on hitting the pool Sunday.

Paul Okenfold is DJing at Rain Saturday night, I'll probably hit that.

70 for a night at tropicana is a rip right now. I have seen rooms in the 70 range at alot nicer places lately. Try the venetian. Pretty certain they were offering rooms for less.

I got back from Vegas last night. I'd recommend the MGM Grand (where we stayed) as well as Paris, New York New York, or Ceasers.

We had a great time just drinking at the casinos and bouncing from place to place. Somehow, we both ended up winning a few hundred a piece each night, so the trip didn't cost nearly what I thought it would.

The most expensive thing there was partying at the clubs in the casino. Studio 54 had a $50 cover and my Bud light $8.

One thing to consider is that the money you'll save staying at a hotel that's not in the middle of the strip somewhere will get eaten up really quickly in cab fare.

I just got back from Vegas yesterday as well. You definitely want to stay in the middle of the strip. I stay at Harrahs quite a bit, because it's fairly cheap but nice and it's right in the middle of the strip. There are a ton of great deals out there right now, I paid 51 a night for my room and they gave me a 300 dollar voucher good for any airline from any airport for a return trip to vegas in the next 12 months. It's not the nicest hotel on the strip, it's about middle of the pack, but it's location is perfect and I don't spend much time in my room anyways. I was surprised to see how many people were out there considering how poor the economy is right now. Talking to some of the pit bosses and other workers, they said that they've been just as busy as ever, the only difference being a slight drop in how much people are betting/spending.

One funny thing about vegas is the cost of different things. Hotels are very cheap and you get pretty nice rooms. The airfare is usually pretty cheap. You can eat for next to nothing, or you can spend 200 dollars a plate. I had 4.99 steak and eggs every night and I spent 80 bucks at a restaurant at the forum shoppes as well. Same with drinks. You can drink for free or you can pay a 50 dollar cover and pay 10 bucks a drink at a club. I'm not really a club guy so I don't ever pay the cover, if I want to drink but not gamble I'll just head to a normal bar not a "club". You can also spend 150 bucks on a ticket to a show and then spend 15 dollars for a drink while you're there.

All in all, vegas is a great time, but it's a very intense place. You pretty much need a vacation after your vacation. I go about twice a year and always make sure to have a day of recovery when I get back. Also I watched a young couple hit a 560k dollar jackpot at the Mirage, that was pretty cool.

everything is cheap if you plan ahead. If you book last minute (we booked on Thursday evening for leaving on Friday) and the plane is almost full its not cheap.

This was easily the craziest Vegas trip to Date, hands down. I always forget how much I love that place.

I am scared to even check my account balances.

Oops we must have totally forgotten to take cameras Very Happy

The last thing I want is a Facebook album titled Vegas Trip.

The #1 advice I can give to anyone is tip big on the first drink. During our flight down we gave the flight attendant $30 for our first beer. We drank free the rest of the flight and she brought us new beer every time we were close to empty. We are set to party with them next time they fly into town as well.

We were sitting in a hotel lounge and we gave the bartender $40 as soon as we got there. When our bill came (after we drank significant amount of top shelf booze) it was $40.

At the club we went to we gave one of the hosts a few hundred bucks as soon as we walked in the door...best investment we ever made.

I just got back this afternoon. We stayed at Treasure Island which was pretty nice, but nothing amazing. Went to Cirque Love and Mystere which cost a small fortune plus drinks at $15 each, but were the coolest shows I've ever seen. Shopped at the Venetian and Fashion Show Mall, saw Lance Burton, Blue Man Group, and the Bodies exhibit and did the NYNY roller coaster. Also, did the airplane to Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon which was pretty cool. I lost $20. $10 to my sister from a bet and $10 in a slot machine at NYNY while waiting on girls in the bathroom. I planned on gambling more, but I was dead on my feet by the time we got back to the hotel every night. Dollars per day, it was probably the most expensive vacation I've ever taken. It was a fast and tiring 4 days. For my next vacation, I'd like to sit on a beach and do nothing for a week.
