it depends on the wedge IMO, if the vlx has the wedge it makes the surf wake that much better, and can really make the wakeboard wake more rampy.
but even if it didn't have the wedge i'd still get the vlx because i absolutely love them.
can't comment on the surf/wake of the x-15 though _________________ Wake Forest University |

Booth, personal preference.
Demo and ride behind both, pick the one that suits your needs best.
I think both are a great choice, I love the SV25 hull (VLX) but have never ridden behind an X-15. _________________ wakeboards

I've ridden behind both. I've owned an 07 VLX. I'd go with the VLX hands down. Both the wake and surf wave are better behind the VLX. Just get one with the power wedge and hope you have a reliable dealer for warranty work.
That being said, demo both, because your tastes may be different than mine. |

| I am a huge fan of the x15 personally, love the styling of it and by adding a bit more weight it can have a really awesome surf wake, and the wakeboarding wake is fine stock for me, and by adding a little bit more weight you can really start to boot. |

| Ask the same question on MC team forum and see what happens. |

Drive both and decide.
My experience is the VLX will have a superior wake for boarding over the X15 (stock, not talking after market weighting). The VLX will also handle and perform better. The VLX if equiped with the wedge and probably even if not will have a superior surf wake.
My buddy has an 07 xstar and we could not surf behind it without holding onto the rope, VLX kicks some ass, especially properly weighted for surfing. But of course you will hear people chime in about adding weight, and that is true, you can improve an inferior wake by adding weight, but I am strictly speaking stock to stock.
But like I said, go test drive them. Once you have test driven a Malibu and MC you will find it an easy choice. |

| Sand- are you sure you had your ballast filled on the xstar stock when you tried to surf the wake? The stock wake on the xstar is not the greatest for surfing but it is definitely surfable. |

| Not only were ballasts full but we had 12 people on the boat many sitting in the rear to one side. Although I must admit I mostly board and rarely surf. I will also admit that the xstar does make a great boarding wake. |

| I hate to say it but I have a feeling that it is either a user error or a boat defect, were you surfing regular or the dark side? |

| I tried surfing both sides of the wake, could have been some user error though for sure, lol. |

Don'T get me wrong I don't have a problem with ether BU or MC.
I just got slammed on the MC team forum for even mentioning Supra on the sacred MC site. Those guys are a piece of work. |

| Yeah, but we also have to remember that alot of mastercraft owners buy them for the prestige and the name (not to mention a price tag that says 'i make more than you do'), as opposed to the portion of mastercraft owners who actually just prefer mastercrafts in terms of wake, performance, handling, etc... |

There seems to be an attitude that starts with the marketing dept then the dealers
and finally the owners. I like the boats just can't deal with the Arrogants associated
with them. It makes me not want to buy one no matter how good they are? |

Hey Suprahunter, I thought you ended up buying an MC. What did you end up getting?
Anyway, I agree with everything said but its pretty simple, the VLX will be better for surfing stock. The wake will probably be better and at least comparable to the MC for wakeboarding stock.
The reason I say that after test driving the choice will be easy is that the VLX will outperform MC in handling and performance. The proof is out there, go to a Malibu dealer and let them know you are considering an MC and they will most likely tell you to test drive one and then come back for a test drive in a Malibu. Go to an MC dealer and tell them you are looking at Malibu and they will put down the Malibu brand and discourage a test drive. Thats because both dealers know which brand offers overall the best experience in a wakeoard boat.
Test drive them and let us know what you think. |

No we couldn't get a ski able wake out of the X15 after 5 different MC dealers, they are rough to deal with. Test drove the CC210 fell in love with
all the wakes bought a year end 08.CC dealers are more user friendly. |
