| What's the boat market going to look like closer to spring/summer? There's a lot of good deals out there right now, but I'm thinking the market might flood and prices will go a little lower and selection may be a little better closer to summer. It's hard not to jump on a 20K 01 X star or a 22K 02 VLX. My trigger finger is itchy. |

I'm in the same boat (pun intended). I'm waiting myself. I've been looking for months and I think that you will see prices fall even lower. From what I heard boat retailers just lost one of their big financing companies and only have one left. I don't know a lot about the boat industry but if it's anything like the manufactured housing industry when they lost their financing you could get cheap mobile homes if you can get financed. Right now prices are low but there are more and more boats out there and hardly any of them are selling from what I've seen. If they are selling nobody is updating their ads. My business (lumber) is terrible right now so I've put my search on hold for a couple months until things pan out. _________________ Sportbike Track Time Southern Division Instructor |

there are some good deals right now, and if you can get financed(it's out there, just need more down and equity up front) and have a secure job, I'd go for it. you can sit out and wait for the absolute bottom dollar, but think of the time you will miss waiting and always second-guessing your decision to either buy or wait...
good luck... |

| Are people having trouble getting financed with good credit? Housing market here hasn't hit us as hard....yet. My MC dealer says local credit unions are looking for people to loan money to. I've got 20% to put down and a 700+ score so I think I'm ok as far as our local CU's go. |

| I say time to buy. Why wait and miss all the fun by sitting on the sideline. I mean whats a couple grand anyway? Break open the piggy bank and go get a boat, now! Besides it will help the economy. |

I say buy it now.
The economy still could do worse by spring/summer however there will be more demand for boats the closer the season starts. I don't think you want to get caught trying to save 1000 bucks and not have a boat for half the summer? Most people aren't thinking about buying their boat this early in the year, if I was seriously going to buy a boat I would have bought it a couple of months ago. I think at this point the longer you wait the chance of someone buying your boat goes up. _________________ Don't do anything rash.....and don't do anything to get a rash... |

| Good points, I would've LOVED to get a boat a few months ago, had to get rid of mine first. Been watching the deals all winter long. I'm scheming a little right now on an 05 Sanger V215, we'll see if they bite. |

I bought, and got a hell of a deal on an MB Sports.
It was a fair deal though, but compared to tryign to buy oen at this time last year, I got an extra foot of boat for $5K less than I could talk them down to the year before. Both were previous year models.
Plus they gave me the best amount for tade in of all the dealers in the area. The dealership told me, the feel there will be a High demand for sub 20' used boats this year. As those with boat fever will want somethign a bit more affordable than going new due to the economy. I am rollign the dice a bit here with the purchase and they are rollign the dice a bit with my trade.
Hopefully it works out for both of us. _________________ Always looking for others who ride on Norris Lake in TN
