it all depends on the boat and what you feel comfortable with.

Shinok87, we'd need info about pretty much everything you can give us for your setup. Boat, weight in it, board you're riding, type of rope you're using, your size, weight, ability, etc.

Until then, I say 40 feet, 30MPH.

Since I know absolutly nothing, I belive that makes me an expert in regards to complicated trick questions like this. Therefore my recomendation is 35 MPH, 20 FT. Laughing

No really, being a noob myself, my recomendation is to experiment with both. I started with speed and found a speed I was comfortable with, and then started messing with the rope length. You'll know when you get the combo right because everything will feel more crisp and responsive. Not sure if that helps, but hey, I'm a noob! Laughing

Find what speed your comfortable with on the boat you normall ride behind. If your just working on wake jumps the speed will probably be around 19-20mph. Then let the rope out so that it is just in from where the wake crests over. This will probably be longer than your used to so clearing wake to wake may be a little more difficult at first but give it a try. If you can't clear the wake, shorten the rope up 1 section (5 feet).

well i think we need more info like all the others are saying,,,, but i normally go from 20 to 24 mph, anything above 30 is ridiclous for me, and it depends on how big ur lake is for the rope.. drive your boat at the miles per hour i gave u and find the area behind the boat where the wwake is biggest, then buy a rope according to that

I'm set up at about 23.7 mph. Thats with our loaded down with about 1500 in ballast, and an 80ft rope....Just feels about the right speed. Others in the boat drop down ballast to maybe 700 and run at around 21..more just preference and what you feel comfortable doing...tried at 30 one time just to mess around, wowww that was fast and as I look back, really stupid if I were to fall or edge out and fall..

it all depends on ur preference, try different speeds and rope lengths. ull find the right spot eventuly. if u are jus starting try around 60ft and 20-22mph and then jus adjust from there

Shinok87, if you are just learning I would say 70 feet at 22mph, if you are intermediate i would go with 75 feet at 22-23. If you are more advanced, 80 feet 23-24 mph

When I started learning I was on a 55 rope, now riding at 70-75. To learn things like surface 180's, riding switch etc, it's best to slow the boat down anyway until you get the hang of it, then try these at a faster pace.

30mph!!! OMG talk about wind through your hair - lol

Im assuming it varies on a lot of different factors.

Speed is more you skill im pretty sure the faster the better for air.

Rope length im wondering too. I think like on my boat its a 13 ft whaler so i probably need smaller rope cause its a smaller boat. I think.

I'd go with that. at 30 mph your probably just cutting your wake down. and at that speed you really want to cut back on your mistakes or your going to find yourself looking at a new sport. IMO that is haha

I ride at 22 mph at 65 feet on a normal day. If im feeling good and going bigger ill put the extensions on and ride 75-80 ft at a slightly higher speed. just enough to make the wake crisp. other then that, experiment and ride whatever makes you comfortable.

i ride 25.5 mph at 80 ft. It all depends on how much weight you have in the boat, what shape the hull is, and how deep the water is

xsvfreako, Shocked

You need to slow down son. More like 19 or 20MPH at the fastest. Maybe closer to 18 if you are going to ride your 3rd set EVER.
