|
|
| I could do whirlybirds two summers ago but lost them last year and really need to get back to them again and just need a little help. On the approach is it easier to come in with the handle at my hip and at the top of the wake just bring the handle up my body and to my head? Or is it easier to come in with it a little further out and pull it in/up? Also, anything to really focus on through the trick for it to come around smoother? |

holdsworth, wish i could help. whirly's are the one trick that has a permanent mental block on me. just can't do them, never could do them, never will be able to do them. It happened learning them on the tramp probably 7 or 8 years ago. I did a perfect one, then the next one i tried i flew off the tramp, and i never have been able to commit to it since. _________________ Liquid Force

i had whirly's dialed before tantrum to blinds, now that ive been workin on gettin tantrum to blinds i've been struggling a bit with my whirly. with the whirly i keep the handle a little further out in front, the only time i bring the handle in really close is when i'm goin to spin.. make sure to bring the handle up across your body after you trip and stay committed to the rotation throughout the entire trick. once you come around bring the handle back down and spot your landing.
ilubronix, i knocked a few fences over/went through a few in my trampoline days for some reason it always happened to me on blind pete's |

| I think my tantrum to blinds are messing my whirly up too. Ive got the tantrum to blind dialed and I think when I go to do a whirley my body just naturally goes 180. Ive come really close to landing crooks when I am really trying whirleys. Anyone got advice? |

| When I was doing whirly's before I had both t2b's perfect and the whirly's, so I don't get screwed up between the two. |

blitzentrapped, do you want proof that I can do it? One of those "put up or shut up" deals? |

from the ones that you were landing in that video, it seems like you were flattening off too early and so you're loosing all of your line tension.. try riding all the way up the wake and really throwing your arm across your face. if you do it right, it will feel like your unwinding for the 360 rather than getting caught up with the first 180

NKCrider and blitzentrapped, thanks! here's a more recent video with a few different tricks on film from last summer.

blitzentrapped, I wasn't sure what you meant by that haha sorry. I thought I was flattening off a bit too but, as always, was teaching myself the trick and wasn't quite sure what to do different. I will probably take a few cracks at it this weekend and try to get them on film. I'm fairly confident that I can still land one after 3 or 4 but it's just a matter of making it comfortable. |

*keep in mind that I haven't landed a whirly bird in a couple years*
I used to find that trying to release off the wake almost like a front flip helped with being able to get the rotation around the handle instead of getting hung up at the 180. Basically do that same kind of ollie off the lip of the wake as a front (mellower though obviously) and kind of duck into the rotation that way.
might help /shrug |
