Looking to upgrade this spring and I'm thinking the best bang for the buck is a 2006 or 2007 Supra. I want to stay around 21' due to boat storage of the lake, trailering down the highway, and gas consumption on the water. I'd consider myself an intermediate rider and I have quite a few beginners that ride with me often. Typically have 5-6 people in the boat at a time.
I'm hoping someone with first hand knowledge of the Supra products can answer my questions...
What, if any, are the significant differences between the 20SSV and the 21V?
Is one more wakeboard specific?
I'll obviously be test driving and riding behind each model in the Spring, but I'm trying to get some knowledge on the subject before hand. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!
Disclaimer = Yes... Malibu, Nautique, Mastercraft, etc... all make good boats and you're happy with yours, but I'm limiting my search to the Supra line at this point so please try to stay on point.

I would say that the 21v would be best for wakeboard....I have an 07 Supra 21v Limited and absolutely love it. It has so many nice features. The wake is top notch with the upgraded stock ballast but can be drained easily for the less experienced riders. One of my favorite features is how the wake plate is integrated with the perfect pass...so you can program your name in the speed you want and your wakeplate setting and then all you have to do is hit a button and bam your set. I have the upgraded ballast in mine which is 1950lbs and it throws an awesome wake outta the box. The boat handles great and trailers easy and does well on gas. We usually have a crew of 6 with a couple kiddos and space seems fine. The interiors are super nice as well.....I have the z5 cargo rack on mine and that is another nice feature to store boards and other stuff as well as for shade. Mine is for sale if your interested...all the info is on Onlyinboards.com....just search 2007 Supra 21v Limited in Arkansas.
But great boat! and definitely the best bang for your buck!

The 20ssv is more of a crossover boat, and is a little cramped inside if you have a few people out.
The 21V throws a nice wake out of the box and an awesome wake if you upgrade the bags. Nice seating set up inside and good room for a smaller boat.

have to agree with Jeff7, I have had my 21V now for four months and I can't be happier with it.
We test drove the 20ssv as well, and it has a smaller interior, and of course it has a smaller wake than the 21V, the 21V is so roomy, if you always have 5 or 6 in your crew you will want a Z5 cargo bimini too, they are awesome. we chose the 21V because of the sheer size, wake quality and comfort of the boat for our crew!
The integrated wake plate is awesome, without any ballast your friends learning to ride will be overwhelmed with the size of the wake, throw some ballast in and its a monster! and the boat is a real head turner too!
Good luck with your search!

| a couple of summers ago i had use of a 20 ssv for a few weeks. the boat is nice, but not a true wakeboat. even sacked out the wake couldnt compare to the 21v. i had a 21v for 3 years. we ran @ 2800 lbs of ballast and the wake was insane. you wont be let down with the 21v. last year i traded the 21v for a 22ssv. the 22 has a little more transition. basically, if ur a serious rider, the supras u wanna stick to are the 21v, 22ssv, & 24ssv. good luck! these boats are incredible. i've owned 4 & will put them up against any other manufacturer.

I have no issues with my 20ssv. wake is decent with sacks and surfs like crazy. only downside is the lack of getting more than the 350lb ballast in the front locker and 700's in the 2 rear lockers. lounge isn't that much smaller than the 21, but the boat is not near as deep as the 21. wish under-seats was more to avoid sacs on the seats, but price to pay.
def. look for the 340hp catalyst motor vs the 325. it pushes our 20 through the water with 2200lbs ballast and 4 peeps like it's nothing.. and no exhaust fumes.

Thanks for all the feedback guys...
jeff7, great looking boat! Why are you selling? Upgrading?
sandm, Thanks for the heads up on the engine size.
Anyone else feel the 325 is undersized when sacked out?

Ya we are looking to upgrade.....I would definitely go with the 340 w/wakeboard prop again its an awesome engine and pulls it outta the water quick even weighted more than stock.

boardordie,
I would not let the 340 HP vs 325 HP engine on the 21V get in your way of making a decision. I have had both and yes you might notice the difference a bit, but the prop is the most important part. If you are running at elevation maybe the 340 is more important or if you are running the 22SSV. Not saying I wouldn't take it, but don't let it be a big deciding factor. I have had three 21V's with 325HP and we run 2400LBs of plummed ballast + a boat full. Sometimes even at elevation and the boat pops out of the water just fine.
So my two cents are if the boat has the 340 HP motor that is a plus, but regardless and more importantly get the wakeboard prop. You will love the boat.
