Hi all, First time poster but long time reader.

Down here in NZ we have a pretty limited range of boats and the ones we do have cost a small fortune. A new X Star is in the vicinity of 120k NZD which is around 3 times the average annual salary, so not always affordable. The other ones due to limited supply keep their value very well and seldom are for sale.

Im looking at buying a boat in the next year or so and two have popped up on the local ebay version for a reasonable price. I havent really ridden behind any descent sort of boats and dont know anyone that has one so my options at trying boats is reasonably limited so i wouldnt mind some advice.

Here are two boats ive picked out.

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Boats-marine/Motorboats/auction-201318432.htm - 89 Ski Nautique

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Boats-marine/Motorboats/auction-204163073.htm - Centurion of some sort

Id love to hear some options from those in the know about whether they may be any good. Im sick of riding behind a 5 metre outboard boat!

Thanks

The ski nautique is a great and dependable boat. I just don't know much about centurions...

SirRacer, both links go to the Nautique.

Is this the Centurion?

If so, Nautique, hands down, no question. As long as the Nautique is in good shape. The Naut will hold together better. Both boats will give you about the same in terms of wake. So go for the better built boat.

Budget is in the vicinity of 30k NZD.

Thanks for the information. I was always under the impression that this hull on the ski nautique was hopeless for wakeboarding?

There is also a Malibu Responce i could stretch myself to for 35k for sale at present. They seem to be a great boat, however i was hoping not to spend that much.

BWAKE... I have a 04 Centurion Lightning and love it. I feel that, like car owners, people are loyal to one boat. I would say the Nautique or Centurion would be a good choice, BUT I think you can find a newer boat than a 93 for the price you are willing to spend. Be patient, I bought my 04 for $22k with only 35 hours. The guy had it just for his summer house but he has hit hard times with the economy and had to sell. Keep looking! Shocked

Sorry guys, probably didnt make it clear enough.

Im in New Zealand, right down next to Australia. The NZD vs the USD is 0.54 cents to the dollar so at the moment i cant really get alot once any boat is imported so im trying to find one already here.

A SN2001 landed here is normally around 25/30k which is just lower than the annual average wage (around 40k).

Id love to buy a specific wake boat, however just dont have the $ at present and am sick of outboards!
