Greetings,

There is a Supra Sunsport on Ebay right now that intially looked pretty good, but upon getting more detailed pics, it appears to have a similar issue to Okie Boarder's Supra here...

Is this the same as Okie Boarder's Boat? Is it common?

One more pic.

Does anyone know if Supra's had problems with the shaft log area in 1989? Was anything changed in the design of this area as the model changed? I've been told that from the waterline down the hull was essentially the same from the first year through the intro of the Supra Launch in the late 90's, the exception being the switch from wood to glass stringers.

The other question I had about the boat is the cutless bearing wear. Is it normal for an inboard to have uneven cutless wear? Ie. uneven wear indicative of a bigger issue? In this particular boat the striners appeared solid (no rust stains near the engine mount bolts, no fiberglass cracking, etc). I'm assuming it's either from a. the torque and/or b. a slight miss alignment of the strut.

Any thoughts?

What's the little hole near the arrow? Is it common? I'm guessing similiar issue to Okie Boarder's boat.

I'm guessing you have some kind of issue around the shaft log, but it doesn't look as bad as mine. Looks like they may have replaced the log at some point and used the caulking as a filler like they did on mine. The uneven wear on the cutlass bearing is probably a misalignment. I'm guessing a good log repair like I'm doing, replacement of the cutlass bearing and an alignment of the shaft / engine should take care of all that. I'm sure others will chime in and give you more feedback.

75,
The boat took a hit at one time just like Okie's. The strut is bent and should have been straightened during a proper repair. The shaft would need to be pulled, the strut straightened and then aligned to the hull. Alignment starts at the strut so the shaft lines up with the log/hull hole and then the engine is aligned to the shaft.

This boat should not be run in it's present condition.

Your log appears to be still tight to the hull from the pictures. It looks factory except for the small patch forward.
