still private..
when watching your vid there is like a cog/gear in the upper right hand part of the site. It says edit page, click it. Go to privacy on the left hand navigation bar you'll see "this video is..." select public _________________ Wake Forest University |

Hmmmm you cleared it, why let go? From what I have read, it looks like you are not pulling the handle to your hips. _________________

You're taking a really hard cut at the wake. Try concentrating more on maintaining tension on the line and letting the boat pull you back towards the center, rather than throwing a hard edge and hucking at the wake. You don't need speed to clear the wake, just consistent pop. Try slowing your approach and thinking about keeping the board on edge, tension on the line, and standing tall. _________________ Hilton Head Wake Sports.com

yea thats an extremely hard cut and you might be absorbing some pop through bent knees at the wake.. you're clearing the wake with speed and not so much with height.
try cutting out just as far but taking a much more relaxed cut. You're starting very aggressive and holding it. Start in slow with the pull from the boat and slowly build it and bend your legs as if you're sitting in a chair and keeping that rope close to your hip. As you ride up the wake you want to extend through it with straightened legs while still keeping that rope in.
as far as speed goes, that looked atleast 20. i don't think that is anywhere close to 15. usually 21-23 is a good speed but it's hard to say due to boat characteristics and rider preferences. i think the speed you're at now is fine _________________ Wake Forest University |

were you a skier? your cut stance looked like mine, kinda stiff front leg, limp back leg.
agreed less speed. more pop.
cut threw the wake, stand tall at the wake. push handle towards hips/down. _________________

Most of the comments already covered what I would say. I'm no expert either since I'm still learning to do the w2w right.

Hmmm, never heard of it. I'm originally from SoCal and I know some of the other lakes you have in your profile. I was thinking maybe the one in the pic was something like Big Bear or Arrowhead. _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? |

First cut out, stop, and level out in one fluid motion. Don't edge out, drift back in a little, edge out, drift, edge, drift. Etc.
Second cut out a bit more.
Third cut out, stop(!) let the boat to start pull you in. When you're about 5 feet from the wake, start cranking on your edge. Stand tall as you release off the wake. Keep the handle by your front hip.
If you look at your edge there is nothing progressive about it. think about building your edge on a scale of 1-10 with 1 being letting the boat pull you back behind it. you want to be around 5 on that scale as you go off the wake, slowly building your edge. 1......2....3..4.5 pop. _________________ wakeboards

HHI Dave, I thinke you got it. I have and still do sometimes do just that (blowing through the wake) If your knees are bent that much they will take a lot off your pop. Also if you are on a hard edge think about tring to jump a wake on hocky skates. you need more board surface on the wake than board edge.
hope this helps. _________________ In God We Trust

| Use a progressive edge! You are cutting in unnecessarily hard and completely losing your edge as you go over the wake. And it would help to hold on to the handle too. |

I second what dragon says with an emphasis on starting the cut slower. What he said about dont come back at the wake until the line tightens up and the boat pulls you in - thats perfectly correct.
Secondly I will say you are definitely letting some pop go because of your knees / not standing tall. I also attribute this to your very quick (but not entirely progressive) edge. It comes up so fast it seems you arent entirely ready for it.
Thirdly I will say this when you get to the wake, instead of thinking "stand tall" go a step further and try to "push your feet through the floor". This really helped me realize you cant be lazy and just "stand up" you have to press (hard) to make up for the force of meeting the wake.
Above all else, keep hitting that wake. Soon it will feel like second nature _________________ Today is a chance to become a greater person than the person we were the day before. |
