The wedge is strickly a Malibu option. That being said, I've seen MC with a wedge, but it requires a custom install that includes beefing up the transom with a lot of structural support. It is not an easy job, and certainly not for the inexperienced. Plus, just finding a wedge might be hard. I've heard that M cracked down on their dealers and now require a VIN# before selling them.

There is one for sale on malibuboatowners.com for $350 i believe. Just go to the classifieds section you will see it. I have spoke with him and he does still have it.

Just make sure you get the wedge foil AND the wedge plate. There are two parts that go together to make the system. A lot of M will have the wedge plate installed on their boat and never get the foil. I would be surprised if a owner went to the trouble of selling both the foil and the plate. This would require pulling the plate off the boat (which usually means removing the gas tank etc to get to the bolts). I have seen the foils being sold by people that never use them, but I've never seen the foil and plate being sold together.

I suspect that person is just selling the foil and you would still need to find a usuable plate to mount it to.

Im sure it is just the foil. You can grab the plate from any malibu dealership, they usually have some in stock. The wedge is on back order currently though it seems that everybody ordered one this year. I think my dealer said the plate was $150. Not sure if that will fit a Mastercraft though, you might have to have one custom made by a machine shop

There was a thread on the wakeworld website about this. A guy who actually managed to get a wedge from malibu described what all he did to put it on his boat. (I think it was a mastercraft) He did a lot of reinforcment of the transom and a lot of modifications. From what I remember, he also had to adjust the angle of the foil because stock it created way too much downforce for his boat and almost pulled the back fo the boat underwater the first time he tried it. I was all about finding a wedge for my boat too, but after I read his article I wasn't all that interested in the possiblity of trashing my boat.

For the cost, time involved & possibility of seriously screwing up your boat I would look into having (or DIY) an automatic ballast system installed. There are numerous articles on the web on how to do it, or you could have a local dealer do it.

How much does that usually run? I was think about 1000 lbs. (interal auto.) in my Prostar 190.

It really depends on the boat. If you're going to have a shop do it, best advice I can give is to take the boat by & talk with them about it. Most of these dealers have done them, so it shouldn't be a big deal. If you DIY, then (probably) the most expensive parts are going to be the pump(s) & the tanks/fat sacs (depending on what you decide to use). There are articles on almost every wakeboarding site out there that show how to do this, & every one that I've read has it set up different, so I can't really comment on cost. Let me see if I can find some links....

Okay here we go:

http://www.malibuboatowners.com/ballast.php
http://www.wakeworld.com/Articles/2001/BallastSystem1.asp

I know that I've seen other articles on it as well, but can't remember where at the moment - will post the links if it comes to me. The one that I was personally leaning toward was the reversible pump system that the Wakeworld article describes. Seems like it would be the most straightforward, I'm just trying to figure out which pump to get at this point.
