I will have to change oil for the first time in my life this season on my 89 malibu sunsetter. I'm a little perplexed at how to get the oil out, however. The guy i bought it from mentioned getting an oil pump that would attach to the dipstick line and then pump all the oil out. I noticed there is a threaded collar on the dipstick mouth.

However, I have no idea what to buy that would be guaranteed to fit this fitting. I would like to get some sort of electric pump so I don't have to sit there all day pumping some manual thing. Anyone change their own oil on their sunsetter?

Do you have a boat supply place near you? My Bayliner had the same fitting on top of the dipstick mouth and it is a standard fitting. If you go to a boat supply place, they will sell a couple options. I had a manual one that threads on the fitting and it worked very well.

ooo standard fittings, what a novel idea. I've got a marina store nearby called M&J marine, they might have something that would suit my needs. I'll have to give them a jingle.

I would have called them first except I hate talking to marina's in general because I always feel like I'm being pressured to buy something. Hence my post here first Wink
