My younger brother is wanting to get more into WB'ing and needs a good beginner/intermediate board. He rode my premier(141) a couple times last year, and said it was to "wobbly" for him(center fins removed) I need some suggestions for good stable boards, he is 27, 5'10", 160ish lbs, been out of the water maybe 5-6 times. I was thinking my board might be a bit to big for him to control well? Any suggestions would be most appreciated. _________________

A good board is the Ronix Frontier, it has a soft tip and tail, and good grip on the water, its stable, you wont catch an edge easy. _________________

Medina, Thanks for the heads up, we've been looking at HL Motive and State, and CWB Sol, and Faze how would the Frontier compare to those? _________________

A Frontier is a little bit more Intermediate, i wouldt strongly disagree with the Hyperlite State, its gives you stability but it has poor pop, and its difficult to break loose, and next too that, you cant really learn how to edge because of all the stabalizers. _________________

Medina, Yeah I can see where a board that is too stable would be a hindrance to learning proper technique and progression. _________________

Ok, well i would really recommend the Ronix Frontier, its fast, pretty stable, and when you remove the fins, you can excercise your edging skills. _________________

It's on the list to watch out for, what years were they produced? I'm looking for used/closeout deals. _________________

2007,2008 only difference is the graphics.
For 2009, you can buy the ronix arcade to have a similar board as the Frontier. _________________

If he wants a Frontier or almost any other Ronix from last year I know of a place you can get demo boards cheap. PM me if you want the link. I would say he would be good on any board out there. I started on a old HL and moved to a new Watson last year. If you ask 10 wakeboarders you'll get 5 different opinions on what he should purchase. Find a closeout 08 and some good bindings. IMO bindings are just as important as the board they are on. _________________ Sportbike Track Time Southern Division Instructor |

Well if you both want to get in the bindings, and you have different feet sizes, its recommendable that you take open toe's.
I dont know if you guys share your boots? _________________

Ok, then i would prefer Closed Toe bindings, since they have a little bit more support (in general) and your feet stay warm in cold water
Whats your price range? Otherwise i would go for Hyperlite Murray, or Ronix Cell or Jstar Region bindings _________________
