You're gonna lose money on a trade no matter what.
Buy what makes you happy though. |

Have you looked at the Moomba XLV? Its a nice big boat and you can get it new for only a little more then an LSV. All three boats would be great though, so it depends how much room you want. _________________ 2010 Watson Hybrid

I would not get the 05. I also do not think you are going to have much luck at the San Antonio Boat show. I hear that show is not as big as a 'wakeboard' type boat show. More fishing boats. I am not even sure what dealers are going to be at the show. I would guess TSR since they did not have MAstercrafts at the Austin show since BoatTown is the Austin MC dealer. Maybe Sail-Ski will have some Correct Craft boats since they have a store in San Antonio.
We might try and go to the SA show just to check it out. _________________ Wakeskating

I owned a 05 24 SSV. I have not seen the new LSV and do not know much about the 06 Launch.
Get someone to take you out on a boat demo. All the dealers in Austin will arrange for a test drive. If you want a Supra(Hunter) is the guy you need to talk to in Austin, Malibu(Kevin Brown), Correct Craft(Tommy), Ski Dock(Scott), MC(I don;t know a MC salesperson in Austin).
We are going to be at the Hula Hut with Malibu the first week in Feb. I think Feb 7th? Boats in the water ready for test drives.
If you want to call me direct I live in Austin Seven-Eight-Nine-3149. _________________ Wakeskating

TSR and S&S will both be at the San Antonio Boat show. I expect S&S to have a 210, 220, and 230 air and probably a couple runabouts. I would guess TSR will have at least an Xstar though they have a small area compared to S&S and Master. Master will probably have a little bit of everything nonwake specific, though I wont be surprised to see them take a caravelle or a chaparal all decked out with tower, speakers and ballast.
As far as your boat situation I would just sit on the boat you have and pay it off. Trading in right now is only gonna lose you money like you said but you probably wont get as great of a financing deal because of the general economic situation. Unless you HATE your outback just hang on to it and ride.

i haven't been behind a lsv. my previous boat was an 05 21v & that boat is awesome. we put @ 3k of ballast in it. the was is pretty steep with alot of verticle pop. the only reason i got rid of it is i was offered a smoking deal on a 08 22ssv & liked the newer features. |

Oooh, so even if you sold it out right for 26k like they're offering you'd have a difference to pay out on your loan before you could go shoppin for a new one. In this economy it'd be tough to take that kind of hit on your boat for a trade in. Probably best off to take the extra money you'd be spendin and just start payin your outback down. If you load it up with sacs can't you get a decent wake out of that boat? |

only if he has his boat on a home equity loan. People losin autos, boats, and other toys did not hurt it that bad. The banks still make their money off of those situations. However banks loaning out 100% and above on houses playing off of the rising house prices is what took us down. I personally watched as fellow bankers booked home equity loans for 125% in a special from a bank I will not name. This is why I am in small town banking now. We actually stick to some credit guidelines and do what is right for the customer, not our profits.

I'm just saying the general notions that, "I don't care how upside down I am on something, I just WANT something NEW," and, "who cares what I actually owe, so long as my monthly payment is lower," are not at all fiscally responsible.
This kind of thinking contributed greatly to the current crappy state of the economy. |

I agree. Don't go into more debt for a boat. Not only is this not a good time to do it with the economy and all, but it makes it even harder to catch up. Sooner or later, you have to pay the piper. _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? |

I hate watchin people do it all the time. Yeah I'm goin to buy a brand new truck for 45,000. dude you make 20,000 a year.... yeah but they're gonna finance me for 10 years so I can afford the payment. 2 years later they haven't paid any principal and they've paid 4,000 in interest. The worst part is the company that will allow them to trade and finance their new vehicle for 150% of its value with 14% interest. It's really sad to watch.
But hey, as long as the monthly payment is low right?!?! |

02lightning, +100,000. I can't stand the sense of entitlement our generation has. That and the "if I buy this, it will make me FEEL GOOD" approach to life. Ghey. _________________

Well, go for it then. Buy the new boat and roll the negative equity into it. Then pay it down to 50% of its loan and you should be fine in a couple years. _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? |

Ok. Well, considering you'll be rolling negative equity into a new boat, you need to buy something that's going to hold it's value. I'd go for a left over vlx, lsv, x1, or SANTE210. An 09 Moomba will put you 10k in the hole by this time next year. |

yea exactly thats the advice im asking you guys for. I think a 07 supra 21 launch would hold its value better than a 08 lsv mobius but dont know? |

Neither are going to be stellar. The supra should be a safer bet. However, what are you looking for in a boat? Have you considered an X1 or X2 or 210? Used MC's and CC's that have already taken the initial depreciation hit seem to be holding their value fairly well. |
