I can't even get to Malware. It reroutes the link and won't let me download any spyware, antivirus, anything.

I have an Macbook with Panther OS. All I use this computer for is to web surf while watching TV. Nothing else. We don't do any financial transactions or anything like that on it. I am using someone's pirated wireless, don't know what neighbor.

But half the time I type in a url it redirects me to some junk site, random google searches, the works. It's possessed.

Ideas on how to fix this, short of throwing it in the toilet?

Take it to the GEEK SQUAD, or hit it with a sledgehammer repeatedly

(I bolded the unpossible because macbooks are all intel machines and would require 10.4 (tiger) OS)</nerd>

What browser are you using? Can you get it to reliably go to ANY website? I'd try downloading a new browser, or get on your other computer and download something like http://macscan.securemac.com/ to a thumbdrive then pop it onto your laptop and try to run it. the only issue might be finding one that will run on 10.3

Or you could do something similar to what I've done in the past.

Ignition.

(yes, that is my foot trying to run away from the rocket boosted projectile that I created.)

haugy, just a note, you might need more model rocket engines if you decide to take the second course of action...

Solution #3: Build time machine. Go back in time. Decide to not partake in late night redtube session.

j/k - go with Dragon's solution of installing some software on a thumb drive from another computer.

If it was a PC I'd have a starting point - but I have no idea with mac. Bummer viruses are starting to get em.

if you can find the utility that decides what programs to start on startup - close everything except your virus scan.

Edit: Dammit my reading comprehension sucks. I skipped the part about model rocket engines. But I am looking for something that will explode at the end. I know fireworks would work, but they can't be bought in my area right now.

Nooga678, Build time machine, decide not to partake in Muck list. Got it. Laughing

jonyb, But it's so much fun. Laughing Laughing Arrow
Task manager shows nothing.

I downloaded the Macscan, and it pulled up a trojan, and isolated it. I dumped it into trash, cleaned that out. And still having problems.

I got my thumbdrive loaded with Malwarebytes now, so I'll try that later.

chavez, no??? Really??? Like seriously??

Cause I would have never picked up on that. Because I keep hearing about Macs could never get viruses from everyone, and I mean everyone, including the idiots who wouldn't know a laptop from an aircraft carrier. But I figured you were being for reals. Laughing

Please tell me you really didn't think I didn't catch that? Damn. YOU DO THINK I'M A MORON. Laughing

Haugy, you can always back up all your important bookmarks and simply reformat and reinstall OSX 10.3

It shouldn't be too difficult as long as you still have your install disc. Just throw it in the drive, and run it, it should reboot and give you some options. I'm not familiar with 10.3 but I'm guessing that you can get into disc utility during the beginning of the install where you can erase the entire HDD.

It really shouldn't be that painful, just google "reformatting OSX 10.3"

DRAGON88, I'll try it.

But do remember, you've met me. Do you seriously think I am capable of this? Laugh Building a tank comes more naturally to me than this.
