I have always boarded with fins and everybody I know also uses fins but recently I've been watching a lot of slider videos and other wakeboarding videos envolving a lot of grinding etc and I've noticed most people dont have fins. Do a lot of people not use fins at all or just take them off for the videos so they dont break off while grinding or always have them off? _________________ Mitchell Militia

I'm pretty sure most parks require you to ride finless. Also, riding finless is good anyway, because it teaches you to rely on getting on your edges. I'm extremely happy I took mine off. _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? |

I thought it was due to the possibility of damage to the rails if the fins slide on them. _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? |

Ok, I now have a silly question but can I just pull my fins off my board ? (ok, so the blonde definitely kicked in there. I found the screws on closer inspection )
Also as I am a newbie is it not good to have the fins on it for a while? and are they just a stability advantage?
Medina why do you think fins suck? |

Do most people ride finless all the time or just in parks? _________________ Mitchell Militia

| I started with fins and just took them off this last season and I'm never going back. It forces you to use your edges but the big thing for me is it's a lot easier to land spins without them on. I just ride behind a boat though. |

| i ride finless and have sense i started riding. if you are going to ride finless i recommend that you have a board with molded fins though! otherwise you might as well ride a snowboard! but if there are molded fins i would def recommend trying it out. its strictly up to you though if you are comfortable with or without them. hope i could help! |

I rode a Watson without fins after starting on an old LF with fins. I prefer finless but I bought a SS Recoil. Does anybody ride a SS without fins behind a boat all the time?
I like riding finless with the molded fins.
Also I have a (probably dumb) question along the lines of this subject.
What other fin brands fit SS? Does SS sell smaller fins than 1.0? I would like some smaller fins if possible. I know I could probably grind them down but I would rather just buy some if possible. Thanks in advance. _________________ Sportbike Track Time Southern Division Instructor |

They dont teach you how to edge correctly, they only stabalize you, and let you think you can edge well, but when you remove your fins and train to edge without them, you get to know you board better, with this more advanced tricks are learned quicker! _________________

Take them off. The sooner you learn to ride without them, the less bad habits you form by relying on them when you are learning fundamentals. It is sort of like learning to ride a bike without ever using training wheels. Get rid of 'em. _________________

Well i am not a pro aswell, i wakeboard for arround 10 times, but i watched some instructional dvd's.
As said, fins wont learn you how to wakeboard, they just let it look like you can...
But some people just like to ride witouth fins anyway, it gives you a little loosier feel, kind like a snowboard. _________________

Well, I liked riding with fins the first coupel of times up. Once I got started popping off the wake, per advice on here, I took them off.
It ook a ride or two to get used to it, but after that... I would never go back. Everyon that road my board prefered them without the screwed on fin. Then, a buddy of mine with a larger, but same series of board took his off and he won't go back.
I am riding a Hyperlite APex 145. Small double molded in fins. _________________ Always looking for others who ride on Norris Lake in TN
