I got a new wakeboard for Christmas (didn't ask for one) and couldn't find much info on the internet about it. I am fairly new to wakeboarding and have only been out ~20 times. The first board we got was from sam's club:

I wanted to get a more advanced board than this for next spring/summer. The one I got for Christmas is called a Hyperlite Logic 139. When I looked it up I couldn't find any board that looked the same. I know it was purchased at Bass Pro Shop. Attached are some pictures I took of it. Could someone give me any info on what kind of board this is (beginner, intermediate, advanced, etc) and tell me how much of an improvement it would be over my current board? I am thinking about taking it back and ordering a new one later since I can't find much info on it. I want to make sure that this isn't similar to the one I currently have and if it is I would take suggestions for a new one. I believe this one cost ~$300 and came with bindings. Anywhere ~$400 with bindings I would be interested in spending. Thanks. |

Looks like an older Hyperlite mold. I think it is the old Hyperlite Drive board with foundation bindings. Hyperlite does not have that board in the pro shop line any longer. they stopped using the drive mold a few years back. The bindings are similar to what Hyperlite now calls the Sprint binding. You can see what the spint looks like at boardstop.com. _________________ Wakeskating

Hyperlite Drive? It says on the Board and tag that it is a Hyperlite Logic...is that wrong?
Do you know if this is a beginner board? Is this board much better than the one I already have - Airhead Breakout 143cm w/ Vise Bindings? |

Lethal_TX, That board used to be called a drive. Then Hyperlite stopped marketing that as a "pro" model board that would be sold in hi end wake shops. That is a board that is sold at big box retailers such as bass pro. It is semi old technology but still a great board. the bindings are the weak spot of that package. _________________ Does this rag smell like chloroform?

| Thanks for the replies. So is it a good board w/ bindings for $300 or could I get a better board with bindings online for around the price or for an extra $100 or so? Debating still on whether to take it back or not & get another one in the next few months... |

If you look at closeout stuff from 2008 you might be able to get a better board/binding package for 300-400 dollars. But it is not a bad package to get started on. the bindings are low end in that package. _________________ Wakeskating

I would agree. Last year I got the LF Witness and LF Transit combo for $300 (plus shipping) on a closeout deal. This year, I bought my wife the LF Melissa bindings from the same source and the prices are very good. If you'd like to pursue it, PM me and I'll tell you the name of the place. Even if they don't have it in stock, they can order off the closeout list (Liquid Force for sure...not sure about other brands) and the prices are usually pretty low. _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? |

I would listen to the other posts. You can get a great deal at boardersbestbuy or anothersmokindeal if you don't care to wait a week or so. They had a deal last week on 08 SS Recoil and Floyd bindings for 360$
That is similar to the first board I rode this year my first few times out. I learned a lot from it but if you want a better board you can definitely get one for your price range. _________________ Sportbike Track Time Southern Division Instructor |

No, not yet. Their site had 2006 as the latest LF they had so I was a little hesitant. Just started looking at boards again tonight. |
