Hi. I'm in Minnesota and am heading down to Fort Myers, Florida next week to visit my parents. Are there any places to wakeboard down there? I've tried to look up places on the internet, but haven't had any luck yet. If anyone could help that would be great. I've heard about alligators being a problem as well. Thanks.

LucyCasey, getting injured by an alligator is about as common as getting struck by lightning, it's really nothing to worry about. I second what ridininmd said, check out the new cable park

LucyCasey, I probably only get bit by gators once every ten times I ride. It is not really a big deal, just a few missing fingers and some hospital bills. It is what we get for warm water!!

LucyCasey, gators are nothing. what you really need to be worried about are death serpents. Some people call them "manatees".

Dont let anyone fool you, they ARE man eaters.

I have heard of cable parks, but it sounds strange. So there really aren't any lakes to go wakeboarding? I know what manatees are too.

That's too bad. It might be fun to try the cable park though. Is it fun? I don't really know how to do any tricks yet. I can switch, that's about it.

It is true, but I have really only lost the most fingers wakeboarding in Ft. Myers so as long as she avoids the lakes around there and within a 250 mile or so radius she should be fine. You really learn the art of handle passing and tension control when you only have one palm and an elbow stub. But people are most impressed when I do all my grabs with my teeth.

You can come wakeboard with us in the river... stop by our shop at T&C Wake Company, 13026 Palm Beach Blvd, Fort Myers, FL 33905. We try to get out there at least 3-4 times a week. Its all freshwater and we have built a bunch of good sliders down here. Or call us at 239-482-5259. www.tcwake.com

Nice. Good to see people offering up a ride to out of towners. If I had the money I would take a few days off and come down to revolution cable for a vacation. It's about 35 degrees here and supposed to get down into single digits tonight. Rolling Eyes

I know a guy who rents a Nautique with a sick wake in Port Charlotte, which is about 45 minutes N. of Ft. Myers. PM me if you're interested.

LucyCasey, if I lived there, you'd absolutely be welcome to come out with me, good luck with finding a set.

P.S. If anyone's ever in Austin in the summer, look me up, I'll always be riding. I know there's other Austinites on here too, but I'm always open too.
