ok, i think i want to get an wakeboard pylon, but i have a few questions first. I have an old outboard crestliner w/ a ski pylon thats about 3 feet high, and just not doin it for me. now, first, how does everyone's pylons attach? how did you attach the baseplate? are used pylons just as good as new ones? i've never seen an extended pylon in person, believe it or not, actually attached to a boat, so i'm a little nervous that i'll buy a plyon, and it wont attach to my boat, any help would be awesome.

If I'm reading this correctly, then you already have a pylon in your boat. You would just use an extended pylon with your existing one. If it is freestanding (no arms coming off of it to brace it), then this is the link is to what I use:

http://www.bartswatersports.com/catalog.asp?C=148&P=2224

It just slides over the top of the existing pylon & straps to the bow to stiffen it up.

If you have a pylon that is braced by arms coming off of it, then check this link:

http://www.bartswatersports.com/catalog.asp?C=44&P=4326

Can't comment on this one as I've never used it, but looks like it could be used for a pylon that is braced with arms. Good luck.

There are 2 kinds of pylons: extended pylons, which attach on to a shorter pylon and universal pylons, which mount onto the floor.

If you get an extended pylon, it usually slides over the existing one, and has straps that go around the bow for extra support

If you get a universal pylon (like the one I have), it mounts with a base plate on the floor, a strap over the bow and cables going to the back. You can see pics of one here: http://forums.wakeboarder.com/viewtopic.php?t=6147

You can get either kind for $285 from www.bigairpylons.com
