I love wakeboarding more than anything and more than ever
even though I've basically been removed from it for two years
perhaps longer
I still hold Scott Byerly in the highest regard would rather watch his part in HIT IT! over and over and over again than watching the latest greatest vid from whoever
Whenever I wrap up for a trick I still think of Schmaltz every time and hope that I can lace it with a "Solid grab and a nasty poke" just like he did
I also still think of that story in Launch WakeBoard Magazine and it had Schmaltz doing a wrapped 5 variation and the caption was something to the effect of "if you can't call it you probably can't do it - Schmaltz doing a fat wrapped Slob 5". I guess they can't do it 'cause he surely wasn't grabbing Slob
the wakeboard scene still looks ugly and waterski driven although things look at least somewhat interesting from the wakeskating.com perspective
I still think Shannon Best has the best (oooh, insert that always funny no pun intended quip here) S-Bend. Yes he invented it. And no, Parks didn't perfect it.
Parks didn't invent the Whirly either. McCaffray also has the coolest toeside tindy backroll off the double up... with gloves
Don't get me wrong. I like Parks a lot. He even signed that WBM 1080 sequence for me.
I still bend it like Byerly every time I do a butterslide
I never rode a hyperlite until Byerly switched over.
I still laugh when I think of the time I saw a guy with a Mutiny Schmaltz pro model with 3060 bindings.
I would never put nikes on top of an Integrity.
Mutiny has seen many incarnations and I actually think this time it will stick.
When life gives you lemons, make a lemonade stand
I still prefer the days on Canyon Lake (TX) on my Flight 69 with my dad on our '79 Glastron
Buoy bonks are the sh*t
I hope to get back to riding all the time and I hope to make my own scene
Don't ever go big or go home. Just as long as you're going.
Hopefully I can make the summer of '09 just as enjoyable as the summer of 69.
Have a good Christmas. Maybe you'll get a drysuit this year... _________________ "Dumb dumb Cobe. Almost got in a fight. Almost got kicked off the island." |

Whats the point of this post? That things were always better in the old days? Wow, time to take those rose coloured glasses off IMO. _________________ Niiiiiiiiice |

And I completely agree.
