I always go back and check out back issues of my wakeboard magazines.

I find it interesting to see what changes have taken place year after year. Team changes, product changes, company changes etc.

Do you guys care about the past or just what is new in the sport?

I liked the 100th WBM issue, comparing the boats, bindings, and boards of yesterday to those of today (err 2 years ago)

It's easy getting caught up in all the new high tech gear all these companies are throwing out... but getting into the sport just 5 years ago, it's a lot of fun to see how it all started before my addiction and how far things have come.

I love old mags (and videos). I got a stack of alliance and WBM since about 2004. Its a cool flashback to open up an old mag. Some of the pictures are amazing too. Those are timeless

i have the same thing as LFADAM in my room. Its a huge stack. I always will just grab a random one a flip through it. I love lookin back on stuff like that, it always brings you back to your roots and how you got started. Sometimes it will rekindle that little flame you had burning inside you the first time you got up.

I've got a lot of older WBM stashed in my room, I always going back over them if I am looking for tips tricks or I am just bored and want to read something. I love the fan mail that they publish. Also the older boarders buyers guide to see the difference between years on their products.

ive still got almost every mag i've ever gotten since like '99 i think, the new mags are nice new gear, new photos and what not but the old mags are SO inspiring, each time i bust one out it makes me want to go ride more than anything in the new ones, same with old videos.

Do you know anywhere to get back issues? Newcomer to the sport here, and to answer the original question, yes, I am interested in the history of the sport. I find it is somewhat useless to know about the present news, riders, and products, without knowing what gave birth to all these things. Inspiration is key to innovation(you can quote me on that one if you like). But being serious, I like to know about the people who pushed the sport to where it is today.

I am not sure where you can buy older magazines. I would suggest getting a few older wake titles.

Hit It/Spray/Mayday combo, Gravity Sucks combo or the Byerly Retrospect I think are good dvds to give a little history on the sport.

I too have stacks of old mags in my room. Have them from about 2001 until present. Not every one because I typically pick them up sporadically, but there's still tons as one may imagine.

I was keeping all my back issues of Alliance and WBM from the last 7 years or so, but moved and didn't have any space so I gave them away. I love watching older videos and checking out how much has changed not just with board and binding technology, but with the way riders attack the wake.

I had every issue of wakeboarding mag back to July '98 but I got rid of all of them when I moved Crying or Very sad . I did enjoy going back and looking at how things were back in the old days of Wake Tech and Stinger. Anyone remember when Rusty made wakeboards for a few years? I think they stopped in 2000 maybe.

flixmaster, damn, you are old school Laughing .

I'm still bummed fulltilt went out. I liked them a lot. And if I remember right, Serum was only around for a very short time. Wasn't that Josh Smith's start up after he left double up?

What about "Wiley's" Bindings? I had a pair of their pro series that I rocked on a wake tech blunt in like '98 I think. That was actually one of my favorite setups ever. That board popped like hell

Wiley is still around. Darren runs his shop in the Washington area still. I do not think he is making bindings any longer.

Serum was some other guy.. I cannot remember who it is right now but he may have had Josh as a rider. I think he also got Collin on board for a short time until they did not make it.

Double up and a bunch of stuff was bought by the guy that ran wet tech. He bought out a bunch of smaller wake companies and then I think he sold to the archer group.

I did not include Blindside and DoubleUp because I think they are still making boards. I think I have seen Blindside in some big box stores and I think Doubleup is going strong international.

As of a few years ago Blindside and DoubleUp were owned by the same company. I'm not sure if that is still the case though

At one point I had a Blindside DV8 with some Soulbound shackle bindings. I remembe those binding's as being miserable to get in and out of.

Not quite as old, but I loved my Origin. Then sold to Joyride IIRC.
