Nice ones CB. That's a lot of work but it looks like it is going together good. That's the tricky part to doing large areas over time is bringing it all together. Takes a good artist, as you've mentioned. My work is simple and in spots I can cover since I intend to work the rest of my life in a corporate environment and want the ability for only those I choose to see them. I may get more done in the future, but for now, I'm done.

I have a tribal armband with my wife's name in it. Not so fond of that one and will probably do a cover up and do something else that has meaning for her and I later.

I also have my boys' footprints with name and birthdate on my shoulder blade area of my back. The guy that did those does really good work...made them look like they were just imprinted on my back...pretty cool stuff.

Never pictured me inked? That's interesting. Why not?

Anyway, I work for a corporation, I just keep my sleeves down except for on fridays. ANd when I have to deal with some of the less open minded people there, I pull my sleeves down.

There's a story behind my sleeve, but I won't bore ya'all with it. I'll just say they are images that make me feel balanced and peaceful.

Post some of your stuff, Okie. Simple tattoos are sometimes the best. I"m a HUGE fan of traditional american tattoos and am building a sleeve of them on my left arm over the next 20 years.

I also have dolphins on my ankle. I got them when I was 19 and they are not very good. But I won't cover them... they are part of the story of my life. Although I totally understand when someone wants to cover old or bad pieces.

I just have a mental image of what the people that have been here a while look like. I pictured you as the corporate, scholastic, uptight type - no offense though. It's strange when you have an idea of what a poster looks like, but when you get an idea of who they are and what they look like it's different than what you expected.

HAHA!

That's funny. Although I guess I do look pretty conservative when I'm dressed for work.

Well i think he wants it on his calf. I think it would look goot on the back so the artist could get all of the detail in. But then again he's my dad. An I.T. guy, very business oriented so i dout he'll get it somewhere noticable.

I gotta tell you tnvols22, the Vitruvian man looks like it would make a perfect backpiece...

If you guys want to see some AMAZING tattoos, in my opinion the best I've ever seen (not in person) are done by this guy at www.yellowblaze.net.

Yea. the guy's creation of depth is amazing. He actually makes some pieces look very 3 dimensional, all layered. Amazing....

Nice. Make sure you sunblock those like crazy and protect them... back tattoos and wakeboarding do not really mix that well!

Are they life size? That's pretty cool.

Yeah, I do put sunscreen on quite a bit, plus I don't have my back exposed all the time.

Yeah, they're the exact size they were from the hospital prints when they were born. That is what he used as his reference.

Thanks. I was pretty excited when I came up with the idea. It took a while to find someone that would even do them. My kids do get a kick out of them. Sometimes when we're out on the boat they put their feet up next to them and just kinda chuckle.

We have a cool pic of my wife and I with our hands and rings from our wedding. I've thought about doing that on my back and doing it similar to the footprints, then doing the cover up on the arm band. Not sure yet, though.

what would you cover the armband with? It' will probably have to be big. Here is my mallard from early on in the sleeve's progress.

Dude fire shooting from the mallard's mouth with an Indian chief in the background would be a nice touch and make it a lot more impressive.

I'd probably cover the armband with a larger armband...maybe celtic...I dunno. I'd consult with several good artists to decide. I may just leave it, too. Like you said, it is part of the "story".

My brother just had large wings added to an existing tattoo of a guitar. I'm not crazy about the whole concept, but the wings came out very nice.

You know, that caw caw caw tattoo.... is the "caw caw caw" part really on there, or did somebody photoshop that on?

I work in an office and I have a sleeve. I just keep it hidden most of the time.

Get a half sleeve, that's what im workin on now. It'll stop just above my elbow so it would be pretty much covered even in a short sleeve shirt.

Either that or always wear long sleeves, like CB mentioned. I, personally, have no desire to wear long sleeves all the time, so I have left mine above the short sleeve level. Pretty much a personal choice.

yea, like okie says, totally a personal choice. For me, I WANTED some ink that was going to be hard to hide. However, I will say that I am also a fan of 3/4 sleeves that terminate between the elbow and wrist.

And I tell you what, once you get fully sleeved, people do look at you differently, some for good, some for bad.

To be honest with you, Byerly's sleeves just aren't the type I would wear, but everyone has their thing. I haven't taken a good look though. A quick search on google wasn't much help. Does anyone know who did them? OR have better pics of them, or Randall Harris' work? I would like to see them closer up to check out the work.

byerly's is his skin breaking open all up his arm and randall harris' is his skeleton on one arm and on the other a bunch of stuff. and i would love to get them but long sleeves all the time would be rough.

Yea, not my kind of thing.

You only have to wear long sleeves in the office if you work with douchebags.

Plus, consider this.. You know all those hot little Bettys in the tight business suits with the pencil skirts and the perfect hair and makeup that sit across from you at business meetings and act like they have it all together? A little slip of some color at the edge of your shirt sleeve makes them positively wet. They all want to bang a badass....

Not that I know from experience, just observation.

I love contrast though. I like sitting in a business meeting knowing that I'm not the same as all these other clones and they would be disgusted with me if they saw my ink.

Clearly, I have issues.
