Holy crap is this one slick device.

That was the easiest setup I have ever had with my Exchange Server. I mean, an untrained monkey with a hand full of poo could have gotten it on the network.

Same same for connection to my local WiFi networks. Stupid easy.

Anyhow, iPhone 3G = recommended by Chavez.

Agreed. Lot of people complain and hate on the iPhone, but I've loved every second I've had mine.

ya. mine does this too. the other thing i hate is the auto spell check. a lot of times i'll type the word i want, but it changes it. every time i type 'in' i end up with 'I'm.' and 'f*ck' ends up as 'duck.'

Apple is like Obama.....they know what's best for you (I swear the political jabs will go away Wed.)

Quote:
There’s a little joke at the end of Charlie Sorrell’s nicely illustrated 8 Things to Expect in the Next iPhone Update on Wired.com.

The last item in Sorrell’s list of known fixes (cobbled together from leaks from iPhone Firmware 2.2 Beta 2) is improvement No. 8:

Copy and Paste

Kidding! You didn’t fall for that one, did you?

The irony of Sorrell’s joke is not just that the one fix users have been asking Apple (AAPL) to make since Day 1 hasn’t been addressed. It’s that none of these improvements top anyone’s wish list.

Here’s an eye-opening exercise: Compare Sorrell’s iPhone 2.2 feature list to the first eight items (of hundreds) in the user-generated wish list being assembled at Please Fix the iPhone, which began soliciting suggestions 12 days ago and has already generated more than 270,000 responses:

(See Below)

Note that not one of the iPhone’s new features appears on the user-generated list. In fact, you have scroll down to No. 18 — “Walking directions,” a new Google Maps feature — to find anything that matches.

A publicist for FullSix, the “relationship marketing” agency that created Please Fix the iPhone, talks about a growing trend in which companies use customer feedback to drive product development — citing as examples My Starbucks (SBUX) Idea and Dell’s (DELL) Idea Storm.

Steve Jobs prides himself in taking the opposite approach. He believes customers don’t really know what they want until they see it. “I skate to where the puck is going to be,” he says, quoting Wayne Gretzky. “Not to where it’s been.”

But you can wear Steve Jobs down. “We heard you,” he’ll say at a keynote, when he introduces a fix that users have been clamoring for.

If you have improvements you’d like to see in future iPhone firmware updates, it’s not too late to add your vote — or your ideas — to Please Fix the iPhone here.

That would be useful... I think.

I didn't have it in WM6(smartphone) so I don't know how much I'd actually use it. Sounds nice.

I agree with Wired's wishlist though. So far, the pros far outweigh the cons.

I don't see MMS on the list of needed fixes.. that is the biggest thing missing in my opinion.

I had the iPhone, it was OK. But is you use your phone a lot for email and browsing and things other than a paperweight then I suggest doing what I did and getting a blackberry bold...

logan, I guarantee I use the iPhone more than you do for both email and browsing. Throw in calendaring, and contacts, and the iPhone definitely comes out on top. This is even before mentioning the unbelievable array of third party apps available for the thing.

When they added ActiveSync everything else (the other smartphones) on AT&Ts network became obsolete IMO. Complete wastes of time.

The only complaint I have ever heard, is touchscreen typing. Lame excuse unless you have really fat fingers - you get faster at typing the more you use it. I can blast through emails pretty quickly now - as fast as I ever could have on my Blackjack or on any BB I have used in the past. But if you have fat fingers you are going to have problems with nearly everything out there.

PS: I do all of this over an encrypted and certificated connection to my exchange server, which is located here in the office.
