I don't want to start too big a thread, but I would like some pointers from others in this sport. Our summer place is on an island in big water, a 2 mile trip which can be pretty rough in a flat-water ski boat.
I want to find a used boat that would be suited to skiing and wakeboarding, with an emphasis on wakeboarding, but that will handle the rough water when needed. I'm hoping some of you will send me some advice in both directions, that is, boats that would be suitable and those that won't.
Thanks! |

| an air nautique would do, so would a mastercraft, really depends on the size of the boat, you dont want a sea doo |

STANG KILLA SS, where'd you pick up that SN of yours? You said it had a 5k pricetag...which is crazy haha. Looks like it's an awesome boat _________________ "Impossible is Nothing"

| I boat on a lake that's pretty rough, especially when the wind blows. I've lost a couple bolts or screws here and there, but nothing too bad. My boat is a 2007 Supra 24SSV GG. I can't imagine being in a smaller boat that sits further in the water, like the older boats. |

LFrider i found it in austin (TX), had the monster tower, rack, a 4 blade prop, and fat sacs all came with it, plus a new motor and interior in the late 80s.
found it on craigslist listed for 5500. also came with tons of paper work, reciepts, and about 2 years worth of new maintance parts. _________________

I used to take my SN2001 out on lake erie all the time in 3-4 footers without any problem. Sure it wasn't a smooth ride but we always made it to where we were going. Its all about knowing how to drive in the rough stuff.
Basically look for something that has a good amount of freeboard and has good deadrise. Wake specific boats have more deadrise than ski boats so if you get into a sport nauty or x series you should be ok. If you want a good deal, try to find a late 90's or early 2000's sunsetter. Great wakes and not horrible in rough stuff _________________ Does this rag smell like chloroform?

| 51Lyman, we have a sea ray 185 and we take it out to sea sometimes and it handles the swell beutifully and it stills throws a pretty sweet wake when we're back on the river, nothing like the nautiques and other wakeboard specific boats but we can still get some pretty nice air if you weight it right |
