I just bought an '03 VLX and the dealer suggested teak for a couple of reasons, at a boat show the fiberglass platform came off (wasn't positioned right or something) and it feel to the carpet and put a nice chip n the fiberglass that had to be repaired, twice.
Also for some reason fiberglass is an upgrade for the Malibu's where teak is STD.
Oiling it a 2-4 times a year isn't much work when you consider all of the other work that should be going in to a boat. |

If God had wanted us to have fiberglass swim platfoms he would have given us fiberglass trees !!! _________________ How do you apologize to a friend for something like that? Flowers would not be enough. |

Lets all go back to wood boats With the extra weight we wouldn't need fat sacks and the discussion would be mahogany vs. teak. _________________ No matter what happens, somebody will find a way to take it too seriously. |

| I have teak, I like teak and think that if I ordered a new boat I would stick with the teak. There really isn't that much work involved in keeping it looking good. |

Mine came with a teak platform, but after a year of having to treat it every 2 weeks to keep it perfect, I had it rino lined. Now that's one of the best things I have done to my boat. _________________ your not getting air till your arms are flapin' like a chicken |

| I heard that this guy had a fiberglass swim platform and his boat exploded everywhere. So I think I'll stick with teak. |

Perhaps you aren't supposed to stand on the motorbox because you could slip and fall, not due to its structural integrity? Yes I know you could slip & fall anywhere on a boat but soem jackass might have sued because there was no warning after he fell. Hopefully said jackass didn't spil lany of his beer when he fell. _________________ I'm back! after 5 years |
