Just wondering if anyone can offer any help.

Im just starting out and looking at getting a board, I have looked at the various makes and am looking at the LF Omega 143 or the Hyperlite State 145 or Hyperlite Apex 147. Im a big guy so need a big board has anyone any thoughts on these ?

Ideally I would like a board to learn on then progress without having to shell out more cash to change boards. Also has anone any experience of Jobe boards ? Have looked at the Crypt 140 but my local retailler didnt recommend this as it would be a slow progression and I would want to change after learning.

If anyone can offer any thoughts or alternatives I would appreciate it.

Cheers
Cookie

Cookie monster- I really dont have to much info about any of those boards but I just would like to throw out an idea. Depending on your athletic ability you might want to consider an intermediate/advanced board. It seems now a days there making the advanced boards so forgiving that newbies can pick one up and ride them. That way it would save you money from having to buy a new board when you progress.

I have never heard of the brand jobe so I cant speak about it, but in my opinion I would go with a well known brand. There customer service is great and you know what your getting.

Best of luck finding a board.

Define "big".

Board sizes are really a guideline more than a rule. Some people are more comfortable on larger boards, others prefer smaller boards. I weigh 230 lbs and one of my riding buddies weighs 250 lbs. We both ride the Liquid Force PS3 141. Its considered a "pro" board but neither of us ride anywhere near a pro level. Like Wakin Dirrty said, lots of choices out there these days.

Stick with a reputable manufacturer in a reasonable size range and you should do fine.

Good luck.

bicyclewholesale,

last sunday they had about 50 boards all end within half an hour.

It was mayhem but some guys got mid level boards like a cwb kink and bindings for $80.

The first board I bid on I won for $120, it was an 08 Hyperlite Era 142.

Just seconds later though an O'brien Natural 144 went for $88, I just saw that board in the local shop for $500 with bindings, and I wish I had bought.

Maybe this sunday when the current auctions end they will put up boards again.

Later today though, grizzly-sports has a bunch of no reserve auctions ending all at once those may be another prime opportunity.
