What companies do the boat owners here use?

I have my house and truck with State Farm and they called me to say the underwriter wouldn't cover my '03 Mobius cause it's too "high performance". Ummmm, ok, so I gotta find someone new.

Any experiences with good companies?

Any companies I should stay away from?

I checked Progressive and they want $669 annually.
Then i checked USBoat and they want $246 annually.
Crazy price difference, but I'd rather pay the larger amount if the company is gonna come through without giving me problems when or if I need them.

I use Mutual of Enumclaw (I'm out west, not sure if there are states that they won't insure in). I use them for everything possible, homeowners, car, boat, business, you name it. We've had many claims over the years & their adjusters are awesome - they don't give you any grief over your claim & are very easy to work with. I have a '99 MB Sports Boss 190 & am paying about $350 annually for a stated value policy. I've used Progressive for our Motorcycles before, but never had a claim through them so I can't comment on that. We've had State Farm in the past & I wouldn't go near them with a 40 foot pole. If you can get insured through Mutual of Enumclaw, I would highly recommend them. (If you don't have access to an agent locally, my agent's name is Gerry Hagerty & his number is 800-456-5306. He's an independent agent out of Washington & may be able to help you out.)

I have everything through Farmers, Home owners, Auto and Boat. I'm looking for a change. Rates have been going up and they are not at all competitive any more. It's been nice dealing with a single agent for everything but it looks like I'll be able to save several hundred dollars going with other insurance companies. The whole thing is a PIA.

Boat U.S. Here. My whole family uses them. My parents have had one claim. They did some major damage to their boat trailer when they blew the tire. Boat U.S. couldn't have been more helpful. As For me I've been claim free. Always helpful when I have questions though. I pay 449 for an 03 Centurion w 350 mpi. Progressive was always much higher when we've looked.

Boat Us for 4 years. The lowest premium possible.

Had one claim and they were great to work with. Saw no increase in premium.

BoatUS is the cheapest I found. They were cheaper by an average of $300 vs. my insurance companies I use for my house and my cars.

I've had BoatUS for years and submitted one claim for $1,500 or so...it was paid w/o any problems. BoatUS insurance is actually issued by CNA Marine and underwritten (at least in California) by Fireman's Insurance Company of Newark.

We have Western Boaters Safety. It's $360 per year, but the policy clearly states our teenagers may drive the boat within the terms of the policy. We figured it was worth a few extra bucks to have them covered for driving.

I'm using Progressive.com. Never had to file a claim so I can't tell you about that part of it, but its pretty cheap.

I have Nationwide on the cars so I just added it with them. Call your car insurance person for a quote as well.
