Hey guys, I just started getting into Wakeboarding, not every succesful, hah but love it. We have a Bayliner 195 XT boat, kind of like a speed boat / wakeboat. But the thing was, we never bought a Wake Tower, so the rope is on the aft section on the hook (level with the rider).

Is this an ok place for it to be? All I've seen are guys having the rope pretty high, does having the rope high help more i'm guessin?

If this set up stinks, anyone have tips on how to convert the boat to a have the rope up higher thats inexpensive? (The waketower addon to my boat will cost $1,000 +)

I ride the same way, off the ski hook. I was considering a pylon http://www.bigairpylons.com/Wakeboard_Pylons.htm 285 is way less then what towers run. I just decided to skip 1 snowboard trip this winter and use that $$ to get a tower. But for the money I've heard pretty good things about the pylons, if you use the search on here you can find some reviews of them.

You don't have to have a tower, or have the rope higher for riding at the beginner level. You don't really need a tower until you start getting into inverts.

Cool guys, thanks for the ideas, I'll look into that Pylon, but for now i'll just try to tough it out, and just try to say on top for longer than 2 minutes, lol.
