Two part question

First off I tried wakeboarding once about 5 years ago with a bunch of midgets, tallest guy was 5' 6" and the bindings were topped out at an 8 or 9, guy who owned the boat and board was 145 lbs. The little new guys were having trouble getting out of the water but 3rd or 4 th try they would do all right once up.

My turn, I'm 6'1 and 225 size 12's crammed my toes in but not really my foot. I was certain I would pull my self out of the water easy, we used to waterski behind a 40 horse, and was usually sunk up to my knees fighting for the first mile , and this was now a real boat.

Sure enough I was always able to get out of the water first try everytime, but once we got any speed up I couldn't for the life of me keep the board steady, the front would wobble like crazy until I bit it. Three or four tries, tried leaning ahead more tried leaning back more, no go.

All the little guys of course thought it was hilarios. Anyway I now have a 19 ft boat and want to buy a wakeboard. I just started reading and it looks like my hunch was correct that board was just way too small right?

I seen the EVO webpage mentioned, and they have a hyperlite state board for $99 and the state bindings for $79. I assume this is a good deal? Also wondering if the 140 will be good for 6"1 and 225 or would the 145 be better, also considering I would likely be the biggest guy using so the 140 may help out smaller friends?

Also wondering if there is a similar online wakeaboard wholesaler that is in Canada? As board at $99 bindings at $79 and shipping at $90 seems a little unbalanced.

Given your size I'd really recommend the 145. The 140 would be better all around but your friends sound so small I think even a 140 would be too big.

I'm 6'2", 180lbs, and I use a 137 if that gives you any idea. My friend that boards with me has a 141 and I have no problem on it either, but I prefer my 137 any day. We have the same exact binding size and the same board, the only difference is the board size.

How much do your friends weigh?

Ultimately I think you're going to need 2 boards and 2 sets of bindings...

And yes, $90 is a ridiculous amount to ship a board and some bindings but they aren't making anything on the product so they're making some on shipping.

Those were some smaller guys where I used to live.

The crew down here is closer to my size.

As far as boards and bindings, the state model are a good start?

My friend on the 141 PS3 is 6'2" and 205 lbs. You could squeeze a 140 but I think you'd be like him on my 137, a bit out of control. I'd just focus on you and getting you the right board, let your friends ride it, and if they decide they want to get into it they can buy their own boards and bindings to suit them, or they can ride your rig and shut up. Smile

I've been on 5 or 6 boards total, the State is not one of them. I've heard about it a LOT though and from what I've heard, overall, it seems to be a good beginning board and a good board for the money.
