Pretty much need a video so we can critique exactly what you are doing wrong.

3 big things lead to w2w clearance, at least in my head. I just landed my first w2w 3 weeks ago but I never miss. I'm landing in the flats now at least 33% of the time. So this is one of the few "how to" topics I'm probably qualified to talk about LOL.

#1: Progressively edge
#2: Stand tall at the top of the wake
#3: Bring handle to lead hip as you're standing tall

That's what I do every time and it works every time. I'm getting 4 feet of air on bad jumps and 6-7 on good jumps.

Get us a video though, then we can tell you exactly what you're doing wrong.

BTW, how fast are you pulling?

Regards,

Dusty

it sounds like you are coming off of your edge. you want the strongest part of your edge to be at the top of the wake. that is a progressive edge, not all ticks use a progressive edge though. and you do want to ollie off the top of the wake that is what people mean by stand tall. right when your back foot gets to the peak of the wake extend you legs as if you were jumping, which is what people mean by standing tall. its really a timing thing. you can shorten the rope and slow the boat down a bit and only cut out like 7 feet or so and practice it over and over. this is what the instructor had us do when i took lessons years back.

As jsweat said, don't ollie, just stand up. And slow that boat down you're flying! The pros don't even pull at 25. You can clear w2w at 20-21 easy if your technique is right.

This is Stang's g/f (forgot to log him out) opps.

I too am trying to clear the wake....I have trouble extending "locking" my knees at the top of the wake............... will it just take practice. I keep my edge till the wake but still bending the knees and not clearing the wake by about 2 feet.

??

That's the exact same problem my GF is having. I can't get her to lock her knees no matter what, and she's missing the wake by 2-3 feet. Its just a timing issue as best as I can tell, just getting it to all come together at the same time. You'll get it!
