I am looking at picking up a 42" Vizio LCD TV and compared to other brands that I trust like Sony and Toshiba, the Vizio looks like a really great deal. I am a bit leary because the last "off brand" TV I bought was a 32" Westinghouse and it absolutely sucks. The picture is great for a bit and then all of a sudden it will get very pixelated, almost mosaic. Anyway I am just wondering if anyone on here has experience with Vizio TV's and their durability or longevity. The picture looks great but so did my westinghouse when I first bought it Evil or Very Mad

intotheflats, Vizio is no longer "off brand".

They make an excellent quality set. I'd recommend them to anyone.

My mother's 37" Vizio looks as good as day one, now about 1.5 years old with near constant use.

The newer 42" LCD are very nice. Costco carries the "newer" one.
Don't buy it from Walmart - those are the 1st generation ones and those have issues - bleed through from the backlight, attaining true black and dead pixels

Where else do they sell Vizio? The only place I know of near me is Walmart. I checked best buy and circuit city with no luck although circuit city does sell them they only show 2 on their site and of course neither of the 2 are the one I want. I don't have a costco anywhere near me.

I have no first-hand experience, but a coworker has mentioned on more than one occasion that his is a piece of junk. He's having power supply issues with his after about 18 months of moderate use.

intotheflats,

Costco
Sams
Wal
Circuit City

That I know of. There are probably more.

I would only buy it at/from Costco.

intotheflats, I had the 1st generation Vizio and returned it 2x's before I went with a Sharp Aquos.
Which I should have waited because 3 mos later after they fixed the black/grey issue. Mad

I have a 47" purchased from Costco about 6 months ago. I use it as the main TV and main computer monitor so it gets quite a bit of use. There is a noticeable difference between a vizio and a sony but for the price it's a great deal.

My only complaint is that the remote control kind of sucks. I have to press the power button several times sometimes to get the thing to turn on or off.
