| As I read more on here I get the idea that a vid cam is a vital part of learning this sport, any suggestions on a fairly cheap durable one? |

Well it kind of depends on how much you want to spend I guess. If you like to work on things and can solder than I would say get one of the cvs one time use camcorders that you can hack to be reusable. They were like 30 dollars when I got mine and it gives decent video. If you go to camerahacking.com you could read into that. It has no zoom or anything but it is good enough and it is cheap so you don't have to worry about ruining it.
Also if you spend more money, best buy sells the Aiptek A-HD that is about 170 and it films in High def but you need to buy a SD memory card. It really comes down to how much you want to spend though. I have the CVS camera and it works for me to get video and see what I am doing wrong.
Here is some video I took with the cvs camera: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjXNWyE2wH8
I am not a big video camera person so someone else could probably help you more than I can. |

| Even the crappy 30 second .mpg one that is on a cheap point and shoot digital camera would help. |

It was an awesome project for me. All you have to do is solder on a usb and download the program and drivers and you are done. I have put mine through a ton of crap and it is still holding up fine. Also I set mine up with a female usb connecter and soldered together my own male to male usb cord so it is a lot cleaner looking. For 30 dollars it was the best thing I had ever done.
Also I agree that getting video of your riding is an amazing help to learning to ride. I hate it when we can't get someone out to video the riding because it is nearly impossible to feel what you are doing wrong. |

I have a little Canon Powershot A570 is (7.1 megapixel) that takes excellent video (and stills of course). Its bad on batteries if you use the LCD screen though, due to the size. _________________ --JohnnyV |

I actually found a cheapo sharp still cam that takes vid to I think if I upgrade the memory card I should be able to capture enough to do some good. _________________

| usually digital cameras have a video feature... mine has like 10-15 min of recording at a time, and you can get like 2 hours worth of video on it (it has a 8gb sd card) |

www.goprocamera.com
It has a cool waterproof case...mounts for just about everywhere and is cheap. $200.
Used mine all summer-not too bad...would love to try that HD one, but need a mount for it and would need it to be waterproof. |
