Posted: Aug 01, 2008 3:18 pm Post subject: Whats the Largest Most Stable board for a big guy ???????? |
|
|
I finally got to go out and try wakeboarding. I have a Yamaha LS2000 which pulled me fairly well. I had all of my kids sitting on the back platform which was a mistake.....It bogged pretty bad since I am so big (6'2" 275-285). I couldnt get up.....by the time I figured out that to get me up the kids needed to be in the front, I was exhausted. I would get out of the water on my sons Ronix One 142 but it would shake back and forth and felt really unstable. I would get halfway out several times and it would dive back in the water which would pull me over.
My question is, I would like the find the largest , most stable board for a big guy.....any ideas what this would be ??? Im a newb and I will never be a hardcore trick guy so a cheap board is not bad for me as long as it stable.....help a brotha out if you could.
Thanks,
JM |

There is a web page you chould check out that has full specs, including cubic inch size, as well as some reviews of most boards. You can find it at

| try out the hyperlite apex in a 147 thats the board that i startd on when i weighed 280 n it was great its also extremely stable as well...the ronix boards are extremely wishy washy n that 142 is way too small for a big guy like yourself just starting out. but also make sure ur technique is correct on gettng up |

You might wanna check this site out too:
http://www.boardstop.com/boardfinder.php
It suggests boards for your size, skill level, and for how you like your ride. |

The Imperial 140 has more surface area inches than the 147 apex _________________ In God We Trust

it's not as long, but is wider.. so you could say it is a bigger board. _________________ In God We Trust

| My dad is pretty big (6', 280-300lbs I'm guessing) and he rides a hyperlite state 145. ( http://www.wakeworld.com/boardguide/getboard6.asp?ProductID=2596 )... He likes it a lot from what I've seen, and he learned to jump with it. It is a pretty huge board and I'm sure you would feel at home on it. If you want more stability, you could get bigger fins. |

my hubby is 6'7" 310 and can get up pro style easily behind a new ski nautique when he wakeboards, its really about technique getting up and shouldnt be much of a struggle, he can get up pretty easy on a very small wakeskate too. as long as your boat has enough power to yank ya up quickly and you have great technique, you should pop up easily with little effort. _________________ last week, i landed a tootsie roll and a 1080...visually.. |

My Byerly legacy 56" is very stable, though now I am thinking of sizing down a bit, or getting a lighter board because this one is so FRIKKIN' heavy! However, it is incredibly stable and lands very soft on w2flat no matter how much air. I think it will be tough when Im ready for any inverts with the weight, but I wont know until sometime next year. _________________ One ring to rule them all, one ring to find them.
