I decided to stop taking my cars through the auto wash or having the weekend fund raiser kids do my car. So I started looking into good car wash soaps and waxes. Shocked Shocked Shocked

It went from a single bucket with Simple Green to; foam cannons and two buckets with grit collectors, oh my. Boar hair brushes and tooth brushes too, oh my. Meguuiars, 3m, Prima, Zaino and of course P21s, oh my. Inside we have Leatheriques, Zaino Z9 & 10 and of course the 303 protectant, oh my. Last but not least we have new tools; Makita, Porter Cable and Ridged, oh my. Least we forget the polishing pads and clay, oh my.

Here was a partial tutorial on detailing a Ferrari Boxster.

http://www.autopia.org/forum/pro-details-before-after/107901-la-bella-firma-bella-macchina-100-pics-video.html

Anyone detail their car close to this level? Not any detail shops in my area that go this far and if they did, I don't think I'd trust them to do it. So I'm gonna give it a go...

my friend with the GT500KR normally hand washes it, shammies it, lets it dry for around an hour and a half to get the moisture off of it, goes all around the vehicle with a detailing polish on a buffing wheel, wipes that off, then goes around it again with wax by hand. then he will put his car on a lift and clean his wheels, inside/out.

for me, hand wash, towel dry, let sit for a short time, wash the wheels/exhaust tips, spray-wax and wipre it off.

Cool thread. I'm not that manic anymore with my Hoe. Usually will do touchless washes if I don't have time to hand wash. I used to hand wash/wax only the black VR6 I had.

Hoe's shouldn't require that much maintenance... just monthly testing Wink

The Studebaker and Excalibur get that kind of treatment........the Jeep however gets a wash when it rains, or I hit a big water hole.

Screw that.

Once a year: Dawn, then clay bar, then a good wax by hand.

Occasionally: use a quick-wax post wash by hand.

If the oil change place didn't vacuum my floorboards and clean my windows, my truck would never see any type of cleaning. I've got 12,000 on the truck I have now and it hasn't been washed since the dealer delivered it to me.

ohsix, Oil guys don't count. Washing a truck in that field is pointless.

If it is a daily driver, there is no sense whatsoever going into that great of detail.

On a car that is just for nice days, I completetly understand. The non daily drivers got a treatment like that. But, now that they are clean, it is pretty easy to touch them up. A simple spray down with water and wipe with a nice towel rounds them out just fine....and, clean the inside of the wheels and outside of the wheels.

Funny thread....because I do have a car washing problem.

I have 110K on my Yukon and I still hand wash and dry it at least once a week, and will go to self wash and spray it down after it rains....or if it has to sit outside for a night....or if it gets a bug on it....if dust gets on the rims. I just can't help it.

I hand wash my wifes car at least once a week as well.

Boat gets the same treatment.

My company car (Jeep Cherokee) gets washed like Haugy's jeep. Laughing

Yes, I have this issue...but my first step to recovery is realizing I have a problem.

You want to see detailing...this is simply amazing:
http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=79859

This company did their highest end detailing package with a Lamborghini Gallardo. It's insane.
