they remind me of skiboards.... i wonder if those would be fun. it would seem difficult to spin and land blind and stuff though

Ha, I remember HO Joe telling me these were coming out back in '98. I guess the death of the inline skating craze postponed it a little.

if you ask me it looks pretty sweet. well up here in canada i know a decent number of guys that love skiing but can't really do much in summer. it'd be like the snowboard to wakeboard transition.

brath5, exactly. The skiiers up in Tahoe that helped test them were evidently pretty stoked on them. It will be interesting to see how well they do because skiing has definitely picked up momentum in the past few years.

Also, one of my fellow pro shop managers modified some Ronix bindings to fit perfectly onto the skis. Looks real damn clean if you ask me, and the people that I know that have tried them have said they worked much better than the Venom ski boots they ordered them with.

I'm amazed they are getting this warm of a reception... normally this kind of stuff gets a slating on here....

However on this occasion I am calling the Colorful emoticon into full operation.

This is weirder and possibly even more questionable than the time I got my junk caught in the fax machine.

they look awkward and bulky to me. then again I bet wakeboards looked that way when people first started riding them too. It'll be interesting to see how they turn out.

trick skis with fins, nothing that revolutionary. it's too bad skiing died out, they were doing crazy sh*t in the 80s.

I was talking to an avid snow skier the other day and he was telling me the new thing is twin tip skiing. Both ends are rounded, the front a bit wider than the rear and the bindings are mounted in the center. You can go park, pipe, all mountain. Looks the same to me...but way way to expensive to try.

Now if I could just pick up snow skis and mount my snowboard bindings-I'd maybe give it a shot.

I could see them being fun for a free skier at cable park. Off the wake they're kinda weird, and every wreck looks like an absolute trainwreck. You also have to ride them waaay tail heavy.

Laughing

As a snowboarder I reckon new school (as in 10 years ago!) skiing is pretty cool. The best guys in most parks (in the Alps anyway) are definitely skiers. And they do loads of blind spinny stuff.

As for being Colorful, that's what I thought the last time a guy in a white all-in-one ski suit, baseball cap and Raybans skied into the park a couple of years ago. Colorful Colorful Colorful Right up until he launched himself into the biggest laid out back flip I have ever seen on the slopes. At full pace. Over a lift queue.

I have a set of em ...well not the HO brand\
http://www.bodyglove.com/products_detail.php?product_id=22790
They are fun and they are interesting to use....I've since become addicted to boarding and leave these things at home. I was able to jump the wake with em and kinda butter slide....but again, I didn't do too much with them....They ahve been used about 3 times and look brand new...so Im thinking of sellin em for 140....we have a team retreat next week at the lake and a couple people want to try em...doubt anybody will, but they go up for sale after that lol...sorry...didn't mean to plug that...
But yes, I have tried em, own em, board more....lol..but they are fun...

I've seen a dude killing it on them at OWC. Huge backflips off big white, transferring nessy, doing some overall crazy stuff. It was pretty impressive

This is like hearing the waterskiers when wakeboarding was first introduced. And snowboarders, when the twin tip snowskis first came out. I think they look like great fun, and I wont be surprised if they are the new hit in 2-5 years from now. There is no doubt about who is going bigger in the snow parks. Skier Sammy Dumont just beat Snowboarders Terje Haakonsen's quarter pipe height record in his first attempt at it. The same guy, along with Sammy Carlson, are also doing a lot more advanced stuff on the rails than any snowboarder out there. Are you guys afraid of some change? I say, welcome Wakeskis!!! PS: Silver Mustang35: The skis HO and Stereo are making, is something very different from what Body Glove and Hydroslide is doing.

Im not sure how long these are going to last but just like aggressive inline skiing was dieing and this I think is the last chance for it to come back. I too also see major splits in the future and the falls look like they would be no fun.
